Going over your time due to election material?

What's the official line on this? I struggle to complete on time most days due to having 600+ calls. With all the election stuff to prep it's going to be impossible to finish on time. Can i still cut off if the prep of leaflets doesn't leave me enough time to complete my delivery? I know we get paid 3p a leaflet, but does this mean we have to deliver over our time?

hiya mate,that happened to me last year or year before with election/council leaflets,when i tried claiming o/time i was told i was already getting paid for taking election material out,so could,nt claim.not sure what official line is though.we just got our polling cards today,3 days to take them,we have been told we have to count them,but also we will probably get paid 2 per household.admitted some will have 3,4 or more people in house,but also theirs plenty on my round with just 1 to a house,or even empty. swings & roundabouts.going to b busy me thinks next 2 weeks.

Someone brought this up in our office the other day, saying its effectively enforced overtime... couldnt get an answer out of the dom, suprise, suprise.

As far as I am aware you don't have to work over your contracted house regardless of what you're delivering. I can understand that you can't claim overtime if the election material is the cause of the extended delivery because you're already being paid to deliver them so if you cant complete your round in time because of the election stuff then cut off. You're being paid extra per item NOT extra to finish over your time.

If you go over your time no matter if it's because of election material or not you CAN book overtime. The payment you get for them is extra on top of your weekly wage and on top of you extended delivery! Don't let DOMs bulls*it you!

We have not got them yet, but as i struggle aswell, if they dont have to go in one day, couldnt we do them the same as d2d ie 20% or 25% per day for the week?

7 days unaddressed items.

Its upto the postperson on the walk to manage the situation. They can do them anyway they wish as long as they have delivered 100% by the last day. Saturday does not count as a delivery day (for election material) so if you get addressed items on a thursday then you would have Thurs,Fri,Sat and Mon to deliver them. Cant see many people wanting to deliver them on a saturday though.

Simply do the election stuff within your hours, and if you go over, it's because of all the other stuff you had to do, like letters, flats, packets, dead walking to pouch drop yet again etc.

We had a load of addressed leaflets on our fittings when we got back today, our manager told us we had to deliver them by Tuesday. Think I will make him aware of this monday . Can someone please confirm the price per item for election material. some say 3p per item, some say 3.5p.

Bit of a strange one about the payments, apparently its the same as the last Election but this seems to be differant from office to office. Think my office got around 4.6p each last time but some are saying they get more!
You have till Wednesday to deliver them!

we have been told 3.5p for polling cards.we got ours today,although i will deliver some tomorrow,is it a definate that we dont have to on a saturday. i can see it now, still have polling cards to finish off next week, followed by more d2ds on monday, then labour,cons (rm/cwu) libs etc following on.

Yep 100% certain you do NOT have to take them on a Saturday!

Sorry , but thats wrong - the agreement does include delivering ona Saturday ! I quote " Addressed items : delivery to take place within 3 working days from receipt (including Saturdays) ,un-addressed items : delivery to take place within 7 working days from receipt (including Saturdays) "
