Advice re:Return To Work req'd please

Hi,

I had both my hips resurfaced in January. Was in hospital for 7 days. Managers knew about this months in advance.

Before I went off I gave my manager permission to contact EHS.

My manager phoned me about 3 weeks after op, I told him how things had gone, when I expected to return to work etc. I again gave him permission to contact EHS/ATOS.

My sick note ran out this week, but I have 3 weeks holiday booked, so am currently on leave, not on sick. i had about 9-10 weeks sick.

I am due back to work on 26th this month, but have heard NOTHING from my manager or EHS yet. I phoned my office last week, cos I was surprised to have heard NOTHING from RM for so long. My manager on leave, but relief manager said yeah, yeah, we'll get EHS to give you a call.

EHS still haven't called, I'm at home next week, but after that me and the family are away on holiday for a week, then I'm meant ot be returning to work.

How can I return if EHS still haven't contacted me? There is NO WAY I will be able to pick up full/normal duties Immediately, this was a major operation.

Am I supposed to keep phoning my manager and asking him to do it? As far as i'm concerned I've made the effort, done my bit, am fully prepared to visit/talk to EHS, I told the relief manager I'd be happpy for phone interview, or I'd even travel to see a EHS rep.

I don't want to return to work and be expected to do full duty. Or do I just return to work and refuse to do anything till I've been assessed?

go and get one ov them new fit notes from the doctor and he can put you on light dutes which you are allowed to do and he will allso put on it that you can only do what you feel upto ie 4 hours indoor prep or sorting but when you go back into work tell your gaffer you need light duteys then the o h s will contact you

Yeah defo get the gp to give you a fit note stating how much HE thinks you can do . It might be less than you think you can do if not tell him .

Im in the same boat and the gp reccomended i do 1 hr walkin a day for 2 months until my mri scan comes thru .

I'm back to work on Monday morning. ATOS are phoning me at my DO between 8 and 10 for a phone assessment

So, I go into DO, and do nothing until ATOS "assessed" me?
