Length of official strike
If the strikes were prolonged, as looks likely, at what point (if any) does an official ballot become invalid? Would the union have to re-ballot members after a period if no resolution found? If so would the period be from date of ballot or date of first strike?

Once the first industrial action has taken place (which has to be within 28 days of the ballot result) there is no limit on the time during which IA can legally be called. If there was an unreasonable amount of time between the last IA and the next one, the Employer might challenge the legality in the Courts, but there would probably have to be a long gap between them.
