Advice on sickness procedure??

I have a knee problem and I slipped whilst at work during the snowy period that has aggravated it so I have been off sick for 2 weeks because of a problem with my knee - I am limping and am currently having physio for it so I can't do my normal rounds. I've just been put on stage 1 but I have a feeling the problem isn't going to go away that easily and my boss is already saying that he's struggling to cope witht the workload with me being on 'light' duties. I have Doctor's notes for the whole 2 weeks - what could happen if I have to go off again? Surely it would be unfair dismissal if I have medical notes/physio appointments/orthopaedic surgeon appointments and so on??

Does your local rep know whats going on here mate?
If not then get him/her on the case ASAP.

Surely the question has to be "my fit note says i am capable of", if AOD, then this would go in your favour i should of thought,
how did the stage 1 get issued anyway unless he said you contributed in some way to the AOD?.

Superdog I done exactly the same mid January . Went to casualty that night and gp next day . Sick line for 2 weeks . physio once or twice a week . More sick line more physio .

This has gone on for 3 months now .

Last week no more physio . He recommended mri scan . Went to gp and he gave me a fit note with only one hour walkin per day for 2 months until my mri scan .

My managers been great with no hastle but its really down to him to cover your time off . I would tell gp u cant handle light duties .

HE told me walkin could make it worse and then be off longer .

If you go sick again after being issued a stage one you will then on return to work be looking at a stage 2, If your absence is longer than 10 days

Have you been referred to ATOS if not make sure your dom referers you asap you will have to ask him to do this.

Do not return to work unless your a 100% fit do not let your dom bully you back to soon it is not in your interest to return back sooner but it is to your doms benefit due to his staffing problems.

Speak to your rep what you should of done is stayed at home until you have fully recovered even if it took a month or more to get better.
