What happens when you return after being off 3 months with severe ligament damage ?
Been told I have to do at least a 2 hour part walk for first few days then normal .
Thing is ...... i cant walk past 45 minutes before the pain comes back with a vengeance and probably set me back more .

ATOS phoned a few times . Near the start the doc said i would be out for a while .
ATOS phoned and i told em what he said and they said i am ready to go back ! ! !
Yeah the manager said it would be a staged scomeback but as i said starting at 2 hours . Dont feel I can do it .
What you reckon ?

ask to see the rehab plan from atos, yes will probably be staged over 6-9 weeks starting at 2 hours but can almost guaruntee that the first 2 weeks will be indoor 2 hours, followed by 2 weeks 1 hr inddor 1 outdoor then building up, quarter duty 2 weeks, half of duty 2 weeks etc until you have been built back up to normal,calpsy wrote:ATOS phoned a few times . Calpsy what will happen is you will end up off sick again without a doubt. This is what happened to me:
Atos phoned me and said they thought i could return to work and carry just 7 kilos in each bag until i have mri scan i am waiting for. I said as pain had almost gone in my neck and arm and i was getting fed up at home i would return before the sick note ran out . I told her i had appointment with a doctor anyway.She ended the call before i was ready saying she had more calls. Doctor put on note phased return to normal duties as i had not done any lifting for 6 weeks.
When on return to work with lino agreed return to normal duties over three weeks. Never made the full 3 weeks but this is the time when you must state what you could manage. I have also been told since that you have a right if you are in any pain not to proceed to the next stage of agreed duties. Union rep told me even if you are not on official atos rehab it is still rehab and they have a duty of care and must not increase your workload. In the third week i was in so much pain a colleague run me home. I have been told by lino and dom that when atos ring me again not to accept a phone interview only a face to face interview which they are reluctant to give but you can insist on. Remember they are just nurses or former nurses who work for Royal mail and are not as qualified as your gp. If you can get back to your doctor before you are to resume full duties just go to discuss it with him. He can write on the new note a more detailed plan for you. Also take the union rep in for your stage one. I cant impress how important it is as it was only after i talked to him he said he could have got it delayed while i was on rehab and worked out a better plan. I will now get a stage 2 when i return and if i need an op well thats it it will be stage 3. Take care my friend

Cheers mate . Went in to see the manager today . Seems 1st week will be quarter of a walk . 2nd week half and so on .
Also asked him what would happen if i cant walk past 1 hour without pain and he said they would see what they could do regarding maybe some walking and some driving . Suits me as i dont mind doing the hours pain free .

PS How long does it take for the mri scan appointment to come through as thats what i reckon I will be getting .

MRI scan took 3 months to come thru,ATOS didn't get it for a further 5 weeks,DOM had it in his in tray,don't go out on a walk mate,at all,i was off for 6 months with major knee ligament damage,went back indoors for a further 6 weeks,then went out on a cushy walk,slipped,now back inside on light duties,op on it next tues,on crutches for 6 weeks...............8-9 MONTHS rehab,put it in writing that you don't feel up to going out,instability & pain is what to say,they'll bump you back to ATOS probably

I'm sorry, but I think I would be taking the advice of the doctor/surgeon who has examined my knee rather than someone over the phone who hasn't. If your doctor says your still unfit for work, refrain from working!
I got caught out like this, because I went back too early, pressurised into it by management and now my knee is totally knackered.
ATOS advised my manager that I could start walking 6 hours a day, and gradually build it up, as my physiotherapist recommended that I start building the walking muscles up gradually

Well went to the docs today . Went for a 2 week line to cover me last week and this week . He produces the fit note thingy and says " things have changed "
Told him thats me finished at the pysiotherapist and the boss wants me back at work next week which im happy to do if he lets me .
He then signs the fit note covering me the last 2 weeks and then proceeds to write on it light duties only with a MAXIMUM of ONE hour walking per day .
I then ask him how long this will be for and he says until my scan app comes in . Could take 2 months so thats what he put on the fit note . One hr per day for 2 months .
Result but from what people are saying on here I am probably best of doing this rather than doing more .
I will probably offer to do some driving aswell to help out and not seem like a waster ( which im not ) .
Lets see how I get on . The manager is a good guy so I shouldnt have any problems .

Well 1st day done packets for 2 hours .
2nd day done 1 hr walking and prepped some election leaflets .
Day off today and should be on driving the rest of the week .
So far so good .
