back to work issue/still have a valid sick note!

Post by forrestgump »

Returned to work after major knee construction in Jan but I still have a hospital stamped sick note running from my surgeon. The DOM and union have harrassed me back in to do light duties but am I insured????? I heard a rumour that if my gp/surgeon have signed me off I will not be insured if I had an accident in the workplace.
I have a full uncomfortable leg brace on and I am still on crutches, I feel bloody useless, any advice would be great chaps thank you :pray

Ask your DOM for an ATOS referal,(better still ask your rep to ask the DOM)

Tell your Dom to take a hike and stay off work. Don't do light duties until you feel ready.

One thing to consider is after six months you go on to half pay. The six months sick awllonace goes on a rolling three year period. So you might only have eight weeks left at full pay for another three years and could be less if you have been of in the last three years. So you need to consider could you come back on reduced hours and light duties, with medical advice from Atos. Your manager can not do a re-hab plan as he is not qualified. Or think sod them stay at home, but say you could return to light duties and refuse then if you were off again and could not return you could end up kicking yourself for not returning when you had the chance and be sat at home on half pay.
