mail volumes and weights /counting

In my office we now seem to have a new way of counting both weight and numbers of mail arriving for delivery.
It is a simple procedure and takes no time at all with the compliance of the DOM. We just wheel it in and place it straight on the IPS frames
and then once this has been cleared someone (in fact anyone) can make a guess and write down whatever they like this practice happens daily
and especially if we get a stand in DOM whenever ours is away. Is this the way Royal Mail calculates all the daily traffic accross the country or
are we just a one off? Another point i would make, does any other office get volumes of crashed mech mail on a consistant basis especially on Saturday's?

All mail is counted at the M.C using the MIST system, in my experience you are relying on people within the M.C to ensure
it all gets captured, which it dosen't. DOM says odd time what he gets does not reflect what he has been told has arrived
