workshops and menu options

The workshops wont comence till after the vote. and the menu of options are not part of the agreement!!!

These "workshops".. will they have benches, lathes and other assorted useful machinery as workshops normally do, or just a load of people sitting around yakking? And will these "menu options" be veggie and /or low fat?

Well they haven't been exposed to public viewing yet - nor the revision tools - nor the magic Saturday matrix - but hey, they will be once you've voted yes. I get the feeling that the Saturday matrix is going to be so far off the wall - we'll die laughing. I mean if after 4 months of negotiation and a month after the agreement was announced it still isn't ready for public viewing when the ballot commences on Friday ........................you've got to wonder.

Facts

The workshops will be held next week , they were due this week but postphoned as the train strikes were due to take place this week.

These workshops will anaylise the planning values for the indoor workload tool and if neccessairy test in a live enviorment. There are already many flaws in the planning values of the indoor workload tool and the workshops will include appropriate scenario modelling and data validation. There are loads of planning values for the indoor worklod tool and to send this out to members would be confusing to say the least.

The workshop on geo route is also important as the 2008 model has reduced the walking speed and increased the time for attendance calls ( ie packets , reg etc ) however when this has been overlayed on previous geo route revisions its shows that other planning values have been increased which will need to be anaylised. In additon the call rate calculator needs to be reviewed.

The D2D into workload workshop is also important as this will demonstrate the increase in call rates etc.

Now in terms of the menu of options the union has sent this too Royal Mail for their agreement. Once this has been agreed this will be sent out.

For the first time ever we will have an agreement on standards which should not be underestimated as the main case of bullying from managemnt is from unfair worklaod pressures.

It will not be for voting on but will be cleared by the Postal Executive and sent out to the Branch`s. One other workshop is for traffic recording to ensure that the IPKs are correct and that the traffic in an office is correct.

All very laudible dingo but unfortunately not much use to us in determining whether this agreement is acceptable or not since none of the information will be avaliable to us,the members until after that ship has sailed.

I don't underestimate...if they are fair and achievable to ALL....are they?....who knows?
