How can members make a fully informed decision

Post by gb93 »

A post by lovejoy earlier, he claims members may not get the full agreement sent to their homes citing cost as one reason.

1, How do members get the full facts to make decision(go to branch meeting and get recommended to vote yes i presume :Very Happy )

2, If it is due to cost i am sure RM would help with costs so every member can see how wonderfull deal is and vote yes.

3, How can people be expected to vote on 2010 & BEYOND without the full facts.

LET EVERYONE SEE THIS GREAT DEAL IN FULL BEFORE THEY VOTE.

Then whatever the result it will be truly democratic.

The agreement wont help much if seen in full anyway. Its a case of get a yes vote then we will tell you about all the changes we are doing. Try asking union rep or a manager what will happen in your own delivery office and they dont know either. Basically vote yes to lose money, more d2d's and longer saturdays.

The agreement - such as it is - can still be downloaded in .pdf format through the following link (Acrobat Reader required):

http://www.cwu.org/assets/_files/docume ... -_2010.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

You'll probably have to be logged in to the CWU site to get it. If you're not able to register on the Uni on site, PM me and I'll see if I can send you a copy. :dance

Its a start Guevarista and appreciate your effort and time taken

But it doesnt get the full agreement to every member to enable them to make a fully informed decision on their own.

The CWU should be ensuring this is the case.

And in reply to a answer that might come my way, not everybody has access to the internet.

As a DO rep, I've circulated copies within the office and placed one on the Notice Board. Out of 80 odd colleagues, I can probably count on one hand the number of people that have bothered there arses to find out the detail of their futures!

Sadly that is probably the picture in the vast majority of offices THEHAIR.

And maybe suits HQ in their aim for a yes vote.

Even if you saw the whole document you would still be being asked to take a leap in the dark and vote blind.
The keystone of the agreement is workload and performance standards and the powers that be ,both RM and CWU are asking you to sign up to a contract without any knowledge of what will be expected from you. Now that my friends is truly a leap of faith, but a step too far for my peace of mind

Even if you made the leap you would fall short of the 100 BSI standard as such you will make yourself unemployable due to not meeting the standards which you did for years gone by!.

Come on every national agreement is followed by reps briefings, members meetings, branch recommendations. I agree that the timeframe this time has been longer but then this is the more important agreement ever so it warrants it.

Lovejoy,
In your personal opinion is it right to ask members to vote on the most important agreement ever without them actually getting to read the full agreement.

There is no way that ANY member can claim that they could not get a copy of the agreement before voting! On here, cwu.org, from your rep, from your brancg, if u want a copy b4 voting you will get one so thats no excuse.

Your branch is on the list as having a meeting this week welshy on the deal. i hope you make the effort to move from behind the keyboard and attend to make your opinions heard!

I take it that it is NO you will not be getting a copy of the agreement proposal as a member - unless you dig it out for yourself BUT you will receive a DVD with the CWU recommendation showing the salient points they would like you to consider BUT not those points that are very important, like enablers, revision tools, ACAS responsibility, the break even point on winners and losers, what the new financial understanding is and how the CWU become just another department of RM infrastructure. So really the snake oil salesmen on DVD - could be a real big seller on ebay in future, See the former CWU leadership in all their glory .......................
