Poll : Will you leave the CWU if it is a Yes?

I have decided that if it is a yes vote, then the Union and the Majority of the members are completely opposed to my principles on what a trade union should be. Please answer the poll, will you, like me, have had enough?

I cant vote on this one as I tending to a No vote based on my own personal circumstances and on what effect I think it will have on the whole membership.

But no I will not leave the Union. Just because I am in minority side of a vote (like 2007) does not mean I have to leave. It does mean that in a democratic society once a vote has been taken and the majority have returned their verdict I should honour it. I may not like it, I may feel let down and disappointed, but I ultimately have to accept that my opinion was a minority ad move on from there.

I understand that, but, in my case, I have been on the losing side in every vote. SDD and 2007, and in all likelihood, 2010.If this vote is carried, it will show that the majority of members do not share the same views and principles as myself. The fact that the leadership has also shown this leads me to believe that perhaps I am wrong. Maybe my principles are wrong or outdated, but I'd rather stick with them than 100,000 people willing to give up because there is no 'plan B'.

I'll be leaving the Cwu, i'm not going to pay subs when our Union is shafting us. I won't support industrial action when the mail centres are closing and asking us to lose money, i'll quite happily walk through a picketline. This is how disgusted i am about the is deal. It doesn't deliver on the important thing, Pensions.

I think the union is run by a bunch of beer drinking know it alls who get us screwed at every opportunity.

But I'm not in it for the national policy, I'm in it for local support and for the local rep. to assist me when I need help.

Of course you are entitled to your opinion but I would say that any picket lines in protest at MC closures are likely to be local rather national based and I would ask you to think carefully before you did cross any picket line. I have never every crossed one and I intend to keep that record, the only one that I may think about crossing would be a CMA one and even then it would be a hard thought decision.

Otherwise, I can't honestly answer the Poll. Because I believe they've let us down badly. But I've no intention of leaving them because of it. They did the same 10 years ago, and we changed from within. And I firmly believe that we can do the same again.
