Will you genuinely leave the CWU if this deal is voted through. Will you continue to fund a union which has negotiated a pay cut, unlimited delivery spans and later Saturday finishes.

Or will you stay a member of the CWU if this deal is voted in because you feel you will need the CWU now more than ever because of the unmanageable workloads (which the CWU negotiated for you) your DOM will be expecting you to complete.

I personally think I will need the CWU more than ever before because of one thing and one thing only-Unlimited Delivery Spans.

Is it just me or is it ironic that the CWU have negotiated a deal in which the members will need their local reps more than ever before?

Maybe the CWU aren't as silly as I first thought and have played an absolute blinder.

It's sort of like 'we know it's a crap deal but stick with us after it and we'll fight your corner when the s**t hits the fan'.

Since i voted first i would defend my decision as follows 1 You can not change anything with not being in it for it is our voice our mouthpiece with out which we have no say!. 2 Just because our leaders say they have done their best does not mean this is the best deal and in saying so is defeatism and not in the interests of those who are willing to fight!. 3 If our leaders cannot will not lead us to victory we should change them for that is our right in being in our union we have the final say!.

Well more importantly than that a trade union is not about throwing your card in when you do not get what you want.

The whole ethos is that you have the vote, you have your say then everyone goes with the collective.

For example if I vote Yes to this agreement then it turns out to be a no then I can start demanding the pay / sww etc can I?

I think to be honest this is very dangerous territory and typical of our society today. Whatever the vote the majority will win the day - just as it should be.

And as TBT says if anyone doesn't like it then get off your backside, stand for election and make a difference.

I'd rather have a tiny influence on the way I work than have no influence at all. One things for sure, without the union (beit a good or bad one) the bosses would have wrecked the business even more by now. The CWU, just by exisiting prevent the bosses from carrying out devastating changes at a whim so it's a tiny defense.

Therefore if this deal goes through I will be mightily pissed off... but will stay in the union. Would be nice to vote out the union bosses as a booby prize later!

Reminds me of those "members" who suddenly have a burning desire for union membership when trouble looms, then quietly leave when calm returns.
Stranger still, is all those disgruntled firebrands who think thier working lives will be somehow better outside of a union...
