Why don't people just "Work To Their Time" ?

That works well when you have a nationally agreed maximum delivery span.
Not so well when you have a vaguly defined locally agreed optimum delivery span.
It's not always about how many hours you work but also what you are expected to do within those hours.
Since it would seem we are unlikely to see what performance standards are expected of us it is difficult to know exactly what RM will expect of us.

The big worry Urban is,the quicker you get your walk sequencing bundles the larger the walk.
So if your office gets them early and after you have prepped and tied up ect ect there is a possible 5hrs outside work to do then..............

There is big pressure from the managers to work over.
Not everyone can just say no to them.
They remind you about how easy it was monday.All well and good but its not always convenient to work till 2.30 on a saturday.
Pressure is the main reason people moan and don't always work to their times.

Do you mean now or in the future? If its now , then yes cut off and dont forget its only a three and a half hour delivery span now.BUT! if its in the future, with uncapped delivery spans then be afraid,,,be very afraid......

I do understand the pressure some people are under, but uncapped delivery span does not mean you work beyond the hours for the day.

A lot of people do not like telling their line manager they are working to their time because of the intimidation. In our office they threaten to take you off your own walk, move section, start you later etc etc etc.

Or if they are feeling a little kind they just gun for you....

And the area rep...and branch....and division....and HQ....a lot of people posted missing in action.

Well put ‘Urban Smith’ …. I’ve been saying the same for years, we’re going down to a 39 hour working week, based on a 5 day week - take off your paid 40 minute break each day (=3.20) take the 3.20 off the 39 hours then where gonna be on a 35.40 week !!!

Think about the extra work… throwing walks in / d2d’s etc / extra packets / summer lapsing ….. Just work at a steady pace & as stated if you cant do the workload within the given time then cut off or book overtime.

It’s about time the delivery workers realised that its (in the main) themselves that have created this situation, all of the coming in early / rushing around / using cars / obsessions with overtime, that have made the job look easy and RM have therefore put more & more work on us all. RM have been laughing all the way to the bank for years, the amount of extra work done for free either by going in early or not having the bottle to book overtime, shame on any of you that fall into one of those two categories
