PRIDE...THE ONLY REASON TO VOTE NO.

It must become apparent to every one the untenable position our union has put it's members in..... I see no other reason and it is only my pride that will not allow me to accept this auwfull deal because in recomending a YES vote the union has,

1. Destroyed our public support ,Posties will be viewed as greedy if we vote no, when the cheifs of the union has been open in telling the public it is a good deal and should be voted in ....

2. Put themselves in a position of being unable to re negotiate a deal as they have told us it is a good deal, Royal Mail negotiaters will laugh at Dave and co and will not budge seeing the division they have created within our ranks .....

I am clear in my mind NO Union should ever recomend for or against any deal especially when the outcome is so finely balanced......
I am not only against the deal re. the money i am loosing £20p/wk aprox. But i realy think this is a bad deal for the buisnesses and our future and has only been an exersice on modernising the industry because the Hooper report said we were old fashioned and had to modernise (the buisness is skint so they say, yet is putting itself in a position of having to buy or lease run and maintain a van for every 2 posties gotta be around £150+per week i would think all extra revenue which has to be generated).

After i have had my vote i shall for the first time in 35 years not be in a union as i am not prepared to help finance an organisation that refuses to listen or represent the views of it's membership ( i am in delivery nearly everyone in our office is against the deal yet still the union says we should accept it and constantly tries to black mail us to vote yes with no regard to the offices view) and many in our office will be doing the same .

R.I.P. CWU you did some good things but on the whole you were a largely ineffective union who contributed to your own demise by affiliating yourselves too closely with 'New Labour' and thereby distancing yourselves from the people that mattered most the workers who were financing your slap up meals and drinking sessions when you claimed you were negotiating the 'deal of the century'. You will be sorely missed....actually you probably won't and life will carry on without your 'representation' in the workplace. Vote No then cancel your subs and use the 3 pound a week to get a new bike from Halfords....much better value for money.

Sorry Cheetah will try to explain diplomatically.

You made a very good post explaining reasons for a no vote.

Another person amongst a few has also gave reasons for a no vote but had his reasons attacked & riddiculed and suggestions made these were plainly just rantings of "a serial poster" and not the widely held view of members.

I was simply pointing out that you are not on here constantly trying to convince people of your point of view.

And therefore the points of the "serial poster" may have a more wider acceptance beyond the users of this forum.
