delivering packets up to 5kg for UK MAIL
seen in the courier that there is an agreement with UK MAIL that we would deliver their packets up to 5kg from 6 april.
quote from Royal Mail "this is good business for one of our DSA customers".
So in addition to the extra D2D, we will now have to take extra packets where does it all end for the delivery postman.
I have genuine concern for my future health with this company they see no end to what they want to burden us.

If the packets are 5kg then it isn't going to be a delivery postman carrying them.shizsco wrote:seen in the courier that there is an agreement with UK MAIL that we would deliver their packets up to 5kg from 6 april.

As I understand it,it's sports stuff like tracksuits which are bulky. So it's more work for drivers.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

its up to 5kg so could be any weight or size.
so if it fits in the bag then boys on foot will end up taking them no chance of being extra driving duties being created. they are inundated with tracked items now.

It's not work for the drivers it's work for park&loop and HCT.
This is exactly the kind of contract the move to the new delivery methods was designed for.

Really, it's getting to the stage where anyone working in deliveries would have to be absolutely barking, to want this nasty company we slave for, drum up even more work to burden us with.

Well i'm all for taking on work Harry but the question is will it be managed properly?DirtyHarry wrote:Really, it's getting to the stage where anyone working in deliveries would have to be absolutely barking, to want this nasty company we slave for, drum up even more work to burden us with.
And the answer is not a feckin chance.
You only have to cast your mind back to the light bulb fiasco to realise that.

Who will be CDV and so the increase comes back down to deliveries - now is this going to be included in the revision tools, how about the tracked items? Has any time been added to the the walks - well nope - there is time added to the delivery it is now 4.15 - however, there are two 3.5 hr deliveries. added to that the bulk elements formerly carried out by bulk drivers, then the tracked items, then the large packets for the two deliveries and in some cases packets from additional walks not included as part of the CDV, the loading of the vehicle with the deliverys, specials, tracked and packets.clashcityrocker wrote:If the packets are 5kg then it isn't going to be a delivery postman carrying them.shizsco wrote:seen in the courier that there is an agreement with UK MAIL that we would deliver their packets up to 5kg from 6 april.

There has been very little thought been put into the workloads - all delivery offices should take the opportunity under the unsequenced revision to make sure that the necessary resources are available - however........................ we've seen RMs take on the resourcing and who is responsible for it.

Exactly, fishtank. Until, there is a transparently fair distribution of workload, I will wish ill-luck on this company's search for more work.fishtank wrote:

on a 16kg bag there will be no walking posty carrying any of these packs not even the dumbest manager would think any posty could put one of these packs in their bag.

Re: delivering packets up to 5kg for UK MAIL
Precisely! The CDV delivery is going to become overloaded with packets and parcels to such an extent that it will be impossible to do an actual foot delivery in pairs and we will end up going back to having packet van deliveries - ever upward, ever onward.fishtank wrote:mailman71 wrote:on a 16kg bag there will be no walking posty carrying any of these packs not even the dumbest manager would think any posty could put one of these packs in their bag.

It makes you wonder if RM have any idea how to run a diverse delivery service - it sure don't look like it.

I don't think anyone believes Higson and Toolhurst et al have a fecking clue how to run RM.dvbuk55 wrote:

It would probably be difficult enough in an ideal situation but with the pension liability and the DSA fiasco to contend with it must be a virtual impossibility.
Let's hope Crozier's replacement is more clued up.
Is RM too big to fail? Will they bail us out if/when it all goes tits up?

We've been told that the unsequenced revision is to lapse 3 duties and not to fix any duties, all they want to do is cut cut cut and the union is just letting themThere has been very little thought been put into the workloads - all delivery offices should take the opportunity under the unsequenced revision to make sure that the necessary resources are available - however........................ we've seen RMs take on the resourcing and who is responsible for it.
