Why did the CWU...
Why did the CWU not put the 20.60 into basic pay? There seems to be something fishy about this, in my opinion this supplement will go after 3 years when the delivery business is fully automated. Which means more pay cuts, the future doesn't look to good guys.

It depends on what you mean by basic pay - if you are in deliveries then the £20.60 is a permanent addition to basic pay. However other functions will not receive it although most will receive various levels of different supplements. Also as far as I understand it basic pay is pensionable, the supplements will be partially pensionable if they have replaced any pensionable allowances your are currently getting but will loose under this offer.Night Tonic wrote:and staying in basic pay, 3 years or not

Re: Why did the CWU...
It is still classed as an allowence it will be seperate on your wage slip. So yes you are right to think this way, they can stop paying it to you just like early shift allowence. What was it Dave Ward said about Early shift payment in 2007? Ohh yes I remember now "if you recicve early shift allownce you will keep this FOREVER under grandfather right"" lying T*AT!

The glossy copy of pay and mod 2007 that was sent with ballot papers back in 2007 says ESA will be looked at as part of pay restructing process in Joint Working Group 2. It gioes on to say that if no satisfactory solution is found then grandfather rights will be reatined. It then further says The ESA is ceased in delivery on agreement to pay restructing
That is what we voted on the membership assented to in 200, not what DW said but the actual wording of 1.3 of section 1 Employee pay and benefits.

Re: Why did the CWU...
My understanding of the 20.60 is its going to be separate form are 40 hours. Why did they not put the 20.60 into basic pay so where payed 40 hours with that on top. It means that they can not take that away on years to come. I can smell a rat that this supplement is only a short term thing and when Royal Mail automated deliveries they will take that away like they have with ESA.

That all depends on how you define the trust in this issue, trust DW to not a mistake or trust DW to tell the truth.
Based on what is being claimed on this site about what DW said I would say he made a mistake in his choice of words, rather than any dishonesty.
If, as and when he faces a challenger you will have to take into account his mistake when casting your vote for or against dave and his challenger.
If there is a issue with what CWU tell us about the proposed agreement, compared to the actual wording then I would suggest Conference asks itself if its plain english policy has been followed.

Re: Why did the CWU...
wake up and smell the coffee, once this agreement is implemented and all the changes to work patterns are in place, the new government (tory} will start the process of selling off rm. the pension deficit will be met by the government {the taxpayer} and all the money currently in the scheme(thought to be £20 billion) will go to the treasury -simples

Re: Why did the CWU...
Both Hayes and Ward should do the honurable thing and resign and take all the members of the pec/nec who said yes to this agreement. It's clear they are subserviant to royal mail and as union leaders are not capeable of grasping the fundemental issues the opg's have those of which are displayed in the pages of this web site.
But of course if your sitting on a salary of circa £100,000 yrly then you tend to have scant regard for issues that aren't hampering your life style !!!

Re: Why did the CWU...
The £20.60 is a "delivery supplement" and is not included in basic pay.
It will be a separate payment to delivery office staff to supplement their basic pay.
IT DOES NOT GO ON BASIC PAY (or at least i am 99.99% sure it doesnt)
Bit like whole agreement SO VAGUE open to much to different interpratations.

Re: Why did the CWU...
This is a supplement and like the Saturday Premium will be used as a bargaining chip in future pay rises to screw even more out of us for the same money - anyone who thinks the supplement is a good thing is a nutter.
Those who negotiated this deal should fall on their swords and do the honourable thing.
