3 day strikes are needed.............agreed?

Any fellow posties agree that its gonna take more than one day strikes to ram the message home to RM that the union and the workers are serious here?

I know the loss in wages will be crippling to us but is there any other option.I feel one dayers RM are able to cope with.

Let's see how the next strikes go. I think this form of action will slow things down. After a 1 day strike, it takes a week to clear the backlog. By staggering days across the business it will slow it down to a virtual stand still.

Maybe a different course of action is to stage 1 hour or 2 hour stoppages a couple of times in the week, just down tools as it were and walk away from your work for the period of 1 or 2 hours, i know it may not be possible for drivers to park and leave the vehicle because of security issues but this maybe a different course and action to look at???

Yeah , a three dayer would definately be effective. Let's see how the action announced yesterday pans out first.

Don't be too hasty. I don't think a 3 day strike will achieve anything except forcing more people back to work.

Before that I'd try a work to rule and a ban on overtime. Apparently it is against the law to officially take such action but I'm sure word of mouth - especially with this forum - could have a significant effect without any real cost to the average postie.

I can't see an end to the disputes until the government force the issue.

P.S. Perhaps we could strike every Saturday - that way the regulator might see that a 5 day week is better all round and RM would make their savings without shafting us :)

Our rep showed me a memo the other day sent to all screws basically warning them that the reps may be trying to implement a work to rule...this action was to be avoided AT ALL COSTS!! this is what r.m fear more than strkes..and cuts out the need for strike breakers cos no one loses money..(except overtime of course)they even hinted in said memo that this action could be illegal...?? How can work to rule be illegal????????????????

If we all did the job , as specified in our 318s , PROPERLY , AS IT SHOULD BE , Lamebrain and Dozier's spurrious claims
that we're UNDERWORKED , would sound even more foolish than they do now.
