Well said kjm :Applause

Have started various threads on this topic and asked for some clarification from well informed forum members but have had no satisfactory explaination of how this TOP 10% wont be used against us.

The upper centile is often used in statistics where you want to find useful results.

Under many cercumstances,
The top 10% have no friends, don't talk, use their cars and finish very early.
The middle 80% are the mainstream.
The bottom 10% are usually pissed, slow and don't want to be there.

You would normally take everybody and ignore the top and bottom 10% of employees so that they don't unfairly affect the 'normal' postie.
Then, you would take the mean average or most common normal of the remaining 80% of posties.

Royal mail have chosen to take a quite ridiculous stance that everyone must match up to those who are borderline rediculous.
e.g. the top 10% are millionares, the bottom 10% don't even claim job seekers and Royal Mail expects everyone else to live up to those on £60k per year!

Yeah Steviea i know you tried to explain things and i apreciate you going to trouble to try when people who i asked the question to have chosen to give subject a wide berth for some reason.

But if i remember rightly you said you had repeatedly asked HQ how performance would be measured and had met same stonewall silence.

And as yet i am still waiting to be convinced how DOMS wont be allowed to use TOP 10% against us.

Would we be right in thinking, that, managers would be accountable for offices not achieving top 10 status?
That could potentially mean DOMs fighting and backstabbing amongst themselves.
What joy! :cool

No, it will much more likely end up with your manager pressurising YOU because it is all YOUR fault your office can't make the grade. :cuppa

My understanding is it is the DOM who is accountable, on the plus side, if your DOM & REP can prove you are efficient on your
indoor hours, the elusive 100bsi, then it would be hard to improve /slash indoor hours further. :dance

It won't stop them trying though.

With regard to the top 10%, don't they dis-count that from the average wage, take out the top and bottom 10% and average the rest?
Unless RM tell us at the start of the year (or whatever time period they are using) exactly what we are meant to achieve and then measure our performance against those set standards, then it is never going to work. I accept that there are some offices and individuals that need to improve, but if there are no clear goals and objectives it cannot be done.
