Can anyone tell me if there is a time limit for my manager to respond to a stage 1 grievance i put in about a manager in my office .
I submitted the grievance in the 2nd week of January , i've still not had any response despite asking about it on 2 occasions.

Re: grievance procedure
i have the paperwork in front of me and it says
"for stage 1 you are to be informed IN WRITING of the outcome within 5 days of you raising the complaint"
you should then go to stage 2 if your not happy with the result of stage 1 and then they still have another5 days to resolve it.
hope this helps.
p.s.
you must have a good case if they are ignoring it fo this long.
p.p.s.
put another complaint in about the time it has taken to resolve this one.

Re: grievance procedure
What you mean it`s gone missing...well there`s a novelty.
Best thing to do is send off to the data protection unit and request a copy of your grievance, when, not IF it doesn`t show up (as the DOM has probably eaten it)they will be in deep s**t.
In my office there are currently two people who are taking these to a tribunal after there grievances mysteriously went missing, wonder who advised them.

Re: grievance procedure
This happened to my husband with a third stage grievance, it had been through 2 managers who had ruled against him (they both worked from the same office.) He won his third stage when it was heard by a manager from outside the patch.
Send a special to the manager you sent your grievance to setting out the date you sent it and asking for an explanation as to why you haven't heard anything. (You can ask your dom for an internal special so it doesn't cost you anything, but make sure you keep the proof.) Offer to send them the paperwork again if they have mislaid it
and tell them you require a response before a date 10 days after you send the letter. I think you will find that your grievance makes a miraculous reappearance

johnr67,
Put in a stage 2 to your manager's manager. You will have to send part of the form to HR, they won't ignore you then.

Good luck.
