CWU Area Rep Saying We can't have a Meeting

Post by Postal1 »

As the topic says. At our office we intend to have a union meeting to discuss and explain what this new agreement means. Mind you its clear as mud in the most.
Anyhow our area rep says we can't have a union meeting about this agreement. He's totally against us doing this. What's more we've never seen him since the agreement came to light.
Any other offices having similar resistance?

I don't understand.
Is he saying your office can't have a union meeting or is he saying he won't attend?

Maybe because it keeps their full time release from duty and gives them a big pay rise as they dont do D2D.

JUST MAYBE.

Spot on, brother.
Can this bag of shyte they laughingly call "the deal of the century", look any more dishonourable?
Most of the CWU hierarchy above the level of office rep, seem to have the most appallingly blase approach to their members terms & conditions of employment.
Time the tail stopped wagging the dog, methinks. VOTE NO, FOLKS!!!!!

Well as i see this agreement i don't have a choice but to vote NO.
My reasons:
What is the indoor working tool going to be set at for sorting etc - Not mentioned]
What will the prep rate be with d2d incorporated - Not mentioned
What is the max of d2d per week - Not mention (i gather it will be max of 6)
Will the d2d come prepped up. Not mentioned
What is this top 10% and how will it affect us?
Is this NEW money ie the £400 and £1K, Or the shares that we already have
How long will be the max on delivery? 4hrs - 5hrs etc?
What if i want to work my hours? Will measurements (indoor and outdoor working tools) be used to bully and harass us all the more?
What about the pension?
Do only the people who deliver d2d be the ones to get the £20.60?

I have loads of questions that the so call agreement imo does not address.

Still being worked on
Agreement says a realistic workload based on fair and transparent standards

What will the prep rate be with d2d incorporated - Not mentioned

Still being worked on, you can allways vote no to your local revisions if they dont match up with the fine wording of the agreement. You should expect to be able to see clearly in local revsions achiveable duties.

What is the max of d2d per week - Not mention (i gather it will be max of 6)

There is no max, agreement says, " and the 3 items per week cap will be removed. The growth ambitions for Door to Door will be managed responsibly"

Will the d2d come prepped up. Not mentioned

RML are very interested in doing this, very early days yet. The agreement says "including the potential for automation which will be driven by commercial viability linked to volume."

What is this top 10% and how will it affect us?

Dave W says its NOT individual, performance covers a very big range of things Intra mail arriving on time, customer complaints, missorts, AOD,etc etc. The word individual is not in the Productivity section of the agreement, the 10% is just one part of the Productivity section.

Is this NEW money ie the £400 and £1K, Or the shares that we already have

£400 is the annual dividend with the payment criteria altered, the 1 grand is in replacement of the third issue of CS which HAVE NOT yet been issued. 1st and 2nd installment carry on as normal. It is claimed that the agreement will help increase the value of the shares.
How long will be the max on delivery? 4hrs - 5hrs etc?

There is no max, read the delivery spans section of the agreement

What if i want to work my hours? Will measurements (indoor and outdoor working tools) be used to bully and harass us all the more?

Transforming relationships section of the agreement should do away with B and H, new work rates should be achiveable

What about the pension?

RM will not reverse the changes and the deficit can only be rectified by the Government

Do only the people who deliver d2d be the ones to get the £20.60?

Everybody in the D.O gets it Agreement says "D2D Monies will be turned into a delivery supplement paid 52 weeks a year for all delivery employees (OPG and ORR) pro rata for part time employees."

Why the rush to get the deal done if there is a lot of stuff "still being worked on"?

"The word individual is not in the Productivity section of the agreement".

Neither is the word 'collective'.

I have loads of questions that the so call agreement imo does not address.

Well not to be rude Big Daz, but are you on delivery. I mean probably everyone here who is knows nearly every round isn't achievable. But i hear you say, they will be after the agreement.

Well as people have said, the figures don't add up. RM are about divide and conquer, break London and cut cut cut with B & H.
Let me make a point about this agreement not adding up. Since this time last year our office has lost 20% of its workforce, about 70 postman. We have cutoffs/working to time as lots are rounds are totally unachievable. This is with the way forward btw, we do van share. So, as i understand even with the machines arriving, we'd save 20mins a day.
Now lots of us can't complete within time now. We're to be expected to do MORE d2d which wont arrive prepped?
This you say should be included in duty span. Also, i'm to work another hour less a week.
So at the moment lots of our rounds are unachievable. we are expected to absorb upto 6d2d a week, work less hours and have achievable targets?
Well that means more rounds putting into the office, budget going up. DOM loosing bonus as his targets and budget goes through the roof.
I don't buy this at all. I see weak offices being B & H to achieve targets and rounds totally unachievable, with the 30min rule now being, you will deliver all the mail till 5-6pm and then try find me with the OT sheet the next day as i'll bully you with underperformance under the indoor/outdoor working tool.

Sorry, end of rant

i dont know why the rush to put this through maybe if the tories win the election is the reason, they have stated that if they win public service workers will get a pay freeze for a couple of years.

Sorry you didnt hear me say that at all

I told you what the proposed agreement says, I never actually said what the agreement intends to happen will happen.

Local reps have a big part to play in that once the revision for their D.O kicks in, for example if the duties that are produced by the new hopefully improved pegasus dont look right they wont make it the vote stage, if they do look right and I put them forward for ther local mbrs to vote on, they then have to pass the test of the members looking at the new duties and saying yes that is a realistic workload based on fair and transparent standards.
