Where exactly does the £20.60 figure come from?

Post by Just_My_Opinion »

So some of the £20.60 is made up of shift allowances and the remainder for D2D items.

Who and how worked out the remainder payment for D2D items? Is it an average? A figure picked out of thin air? The least amount Royal Mail think they could get away with giving us?

Who worked it out and how!?

So it is an average which basically some people benefit, some don't?

Just like the rest of the agreement, eh?

It's crap, well in my opinion anyway, yes the union are trying to get equal pay for all but at the expense of some working the butt off to fund others.

We in our office have 3 DTD without fail and will delivery gods knows how many in the future due to being in a good advertising area while those that had few or none will get the same reward, yes i know DTD going into the workload will mean it's factored into my hours but i can see them saying 4 is the average and everytime it's above that we will be fooked

The CWU have split delivery and mail centres with this deal. We in delivery know this agreement is a shafting but the MCs will vote for the deal, well you will be sorry as closures are being kept secret at the moment but you wait when the deal is accepted, RM will just do what they want.

Correct, the supplement uses ESA and DTD money for its funding, sadly no new money.

The only way to legally justify this payment is to say it IS NOT d2d money. Otherwise delivery/driver staff are not being renumerated fairely. Sure they are saying it's the current d2d pot shared out but they would be breaking the law by bringing in this 'payment' then so if it went legal they would have to back-track on what they are saying now.

The bottom line is NOONE is getting d2d money anymore. It's FINISHED. The company now take ALL d2d money for the balance sheet. If you want proof of this it's that we wont see a penny of the new money comming in from the d2d contracts which could be 2-4times the money currently comming in. If we were paid in the future as we are now for d2d we could be making 60-100 quid a week while RM still get their more than fair share. Why would you vote to give all that money away?

Would we work over our time to do extra DTD, as without DTD into workload thats what would be needed. Because its in workload planning RML claim it will cost them money due to duty alterations so are paying for DTD that way and therefore do not wish to pay out any more.

CWU have made them continue putting the current DTD money into the overall paybill and achived workload which RM claim will cost them money. It would appear that the income from future DTD over and above three a week is RM funding for workload.

ogpat is right, RML cant pay a delivery supplement that is and I quote Bob Gibson "assinged allowance to basic pay" and not pay it to everyone in the D.O and as its basic pay its paid pro rata to those working less than FT hours.

The proposed agreement is clear

To coincide with the introduction of the national agreement unit payments will cease and the 3 items per week cap will be removed. D2D Monies will be turned into a delivery supplement paid 52 weeks a year for all delivery employees (OPG and ORR) pro rata for part time employees.

It does not say the supplement is for the purpose of sorting and delivering DTD, it simply informs us what is going to be done with the DTD monies once payments cease.

That is missleading. d2d revenue will potentially rise from 50million to 150million. The UK market being 400million RM share could even reach 300million. If that money was going to us we would make 100quid a week or more for d2d. Infact it will be going to the board of directors bonus scheme, managers bonus scheme and future private share holders via annual dividend payments. We will get none of it. How fair is that??

100 quid a week? thats nearly 6000 items at 1.67p or 12 contracts a week based on 500 calls.

Where are you going to deliver that number per week, Fantasy Island!

Think that you will find thatD2D revenue is more like £200 million , the union have only succeeded in capturing £55 million that was the delivery cost in2008. So it is a bigger scam than you thought.
Essentially it means this "deal" will cost RM nothing indeed they will increase profits vastly. In essence the workforce is being required to make this transformation funded entirely by their pay cuts and increased workload

Im sure the DGS(p) will get us up to £400 basic in April 2013 and he or she will be looking to utlise the extra income from DTD to fund the increase to basic pay. In fact the DGS(p) can do that in 2012, the 2012 basic increase can go up, but then maybe Im to optimistic :hmmmm

Crikey! £400 a week by 2013 - well that won't be long, if you say it quickly that is. They've been banging on about £400 basic for years and we would eventually have reached that magical figure by natural progression - however, what would £400 a week have been worth 5 years ago when it was first mentioned in comparison to 8 years later? Not that impressive is it.
