London makes progress
After a number of intense meetings , with Royal Mail and ACAS over the outstanding 2.3 executive action offices in London we have now reached an agreement (subject to the members ratifying them )on the following offices who all have their 4 day weeks back,.
Wimbledon SW19
Southwark SE1
Islington N1
Streatham SW16
Abbeywood SE2
Catford SE6
New Cross SE14
Anerley SE19
We have a way forward for Docklands. We have a way forward for the remaining 4 day week offices which are in the main now working and clearing on an 8 hour day.
The pressure on Royal mail from the fact that the CWU had told them that the ballot on the new agreement would not go out assisted.
We will report to all the London Unit reps on Monday that we have now resolved the problems from Last year.
The London Divisional Committee will meet next week to discuss if we now have concensus on the new agreement.

Re: London makes progress
thats brilliant, now that london have reached agreement on their 4 day week problem we can expect a majority yes vote in the forthcoming ballot, not forgetting that they don't all do d2d because of the unreliability of delivery in the london area. i apologise for being sceptical but what happens if after a yes vote rm again change their minds and renage on the 4 day week "agreement" with the london offices?

Re: London makes progress
I would think some of those offices that showed solidarity to London last year will think long and hard before doing so again?
CONDEMNATION.

Re: London makes progress
So rather than make an informed decision based on the London members wishes, the LRCs "assistance" was turned into a "you scratch my back,i'll scratch yours" bargaining chip.dingo wrote: The pressure on Royal mail from the fact that the CWU had told them that the ballot on the new agreement would not go out assisted.
I am afraid dingo that this will simply reaffirm many of the management inspired prejudicies against London.
If London is to support the agreement,it should only be for one reason, that the LONDON MEMBERSHIP support it.
And not for some grubby little backstreet deal with Royal Mail who will simply turn on you the minute they get what they want.

Re: London makes progress
I am hoping perhaps even praying that Dingo has put too much emphasis in the wrong places on his post:
Trying to be diplomatic I think he was trying to say:
The CWU Division in London advised London Management that they could not recommend a Yes vote to their members, on the National ballot, until all outstanding issues over the Interim Agreement in London were addressed or agreement reached.
At least that's what I hope he meant as reading the initial statement it could be read as one Division having undue influence on a National situation.

Re: London makes progress
London should take the 4 day week and still vote 'no' to this shitty proposed agreement.
The London Divisional Committee should vote to stab management in the back.
London are not stupid, they realise that the aim of this deceitful proposed agreement is to achieve the political aim of meeting the deadline of the EU Postal Directive.

I read it as " Give London their 4 day week back and they will be more inclined to vote yes as we will recommend a yes vote"TrueBlueTerrier wrote:I am hoping perhaps even praying that Dingo has put too much emphasis in the wrong places on his post:

Re: London makes progress
I know most, if not all, of the individual unit reps in West London, and no matter what Dingo says, whatever the LDC decides, 99.9% of individual postmen/women in West London will vote NO to this disgraceful sell-out of our members terms & conditions of employment with this rapidly declining company.
Any increase on already intolerable workloads will be resisted. Any infringement on the little quality time postal workers have away from their individual slave-labour camp, formerly known as SDOs, particularly as regards the unnecessary lengthening of Saturday attendances, will be met with immediate calls for office ballots, the view being, f**k-up the few hours quality time we spend with family & friends on Saturday, and we'll ensure that RM loses the entire day.

We met the deadline years in advance under a Labour government,

Re: London makes progress
"The objective of the EU postal policy is to accomplish the Single Market for postal services and ensure a high quality universal postal service as part of the Lisbon Agenda. It thus focuses on postal customers, both business and consumers. These objectives are pursued by opening up the sector to competition in a gradual and controlled way on the basis of the regulatory framework of the Postal Directive (Directive 97/67/EC as amended by Directive 2002/39/EC) and as amended by Directive 2008/06/EC). The improvement of quality of service, in particular in terms of delivery performance and convenient access are fundamental aspects of this policy. The Commission monitors and ensures the correct implementation of the regulatory framework and, where appropriate, proposes changes to this framework in order to achieve the Community's postal policy objectives.
Under the 3rd Postal Directive (Directive 2008/06/EC), full market opening will be accomplished by 31 December 2010 for the majority of Member States with a further two years allowed for 11 Member States. "

Re: London makes progress
Wow London reach agreement after only 4 months and just in time for the ballot.
Shame on you TBT for suggesting the London divisions exert undue influence on the CWU - as if
But as Dingo said a few days ago there won't be a ballot until London had resolved the issues.

Re: London makes progress
Yet another ill timed posting by Dingo, as if we weren't already annoyed by the deal being offered, it now looks as if 'as long as London is OK sod the rest of the country' - all that's happening is we're getting pissed at what looks to be preferencial treatment of London.

Re: London makes progress
Preferential treatment, well hush your mouth - Only The CWU London and Royal Mail London Interim Agreement and of course their own individual ACAS negotiator - anybody else seen one of those - I must admit I once thought I saw some rocking horse s**t or at least more likely to than an ACAS negotiator north of the Watford gap.DGP1 wrote:Yet another ill timed posting by Dingo, as if we weren't already annoyed by the deal being offered, it now looks as if 'as long as London is OK sod the rest of the country' - all that's happening is we're getting pissed at what looks to be preferencial treatment of London.
Sour grapes? - well lets put it this way, you go into a supermarket the bloke in front has his bags packed for him, gets them carried to the car and a courtesy ticket for fuel at the pumps - old you, next in line packs the same stuff by yourself in bags that rip before you get through the checkout served by some acne riddled geek with snot dripping from his nose - but you pay the same price......................let me think is someone getting preferential treatment?
