Went to the Dave Ward ,Bob Gibson roadshow today now even more sure that this rep ain`t going to tell the troops to vote yes.I stand by the reasons i have stated before on this site.On a personnel level i would like to say that i found Bob Gibson more obnoxious than Dave Ward.the worst thing that ever happen to this union was Alan Johnson becoming an MP now you can see the ambition on the executives faces,they all want to join him and have forgotten what its like on the frontline.How many union leaders in this or any other country would ask thier members to vote to accept the shedding 24,000 of thier own numbers.

RML belive 50% of the 24,000 figure will come from natural wasteage and are planning on the basis of exit packages for 12,000 people.

CWU top bods DO NOT belive RM will achive 24,000 reduction in staff numbers.

I wasnt aware that the proposed agreement gave a figure on reduced staff numbers

Did they say 24,000? I was expecting a reasonably high figure but 24,000 seems pretty high to me - you'd be looking at a membership figure of say 2 to 1 members leaving so a loss of 16,000 leaving about 115,000 members and if this deal does go through, another 5-10k meaning a membership approaching 60% of total with natural wastage and PT recruitment over 5 years - with possibly only 1 in 3 joining sliding towards a 100k or less - yep they needed RMs financial help right enough.

I wonder if there is a projection of membership for the next 5 years and how close to that it is and where the line is drawn as to what is a viable figure both financially and from a representation point of view - well from the representation point of view I think we can answer that now.

Perhaps a motion could be put to conference where people pay a certain % (say 1%) of take home pay as subs. Certainly would have stopped the D2D/ESA/Del Supplement controversy as the bean counters would have realised the impact it would have had on subs.

Perhaps a motion could be put to conference where people pay a certain % (say 1%) of take home pay as subs. Certainly would have stopped the D2D/ESA/Del Supplement controversy as the bean counters would have realised the impact it would have had on subs.

How about 6.9% over three years at say 2%, 1.4% and 3.5% under advisement in year 3 BUT deduct the original subscription from the weekly amount? Oh but for the first year they get the same amount as we got for a pay rise last year.

24,000 is the propossed agreement figure,the bodd on stage said that rm are hoping with natural wastage to shed 12,000 a year which is 36,000 by 2013.When RM do not get the amount of EVR that they want, then you bet everyone on a temp contract will be finished.D2D plans will cost me £40 a week but if it saves jobs i would bear it would`nt like it but to save jobs ok, we are after all supposed to be a union all for one etc.The thing seems more about the cwu bigwigs still maintianing thier positions of power and not about the members conditions.

Natural wastage is a euphamism for sack as many people as we can in RM's world.
