D2D into workload protecting jobs?
I am a bit dubious about the mantra surrounding this.
If D2D is in workload, therefore RM will be paying us to prep them, surely down the line when the D2D have increased in number, RM will just automate (collate) them. It will be far cheaper.
The only thing long term out of it will be a slight increase in call rate per day.
How will this help to protect long term job security?

It doesn't,it is a short term solution to a long term problem......automation.banner18 wrote:I am a bit dubious about the mantra surrounding this.

The more they automate the indoor element of our job the more pressure on full-time employment.
It adds to the traffic figures but what they give with one hand they take away with the other.
It may increase you office traffic by about 10% and that is optimistic but according to RM that is about what we lost in the last 12 months so i cannot see huge amounts of hours going back into D.O.s can you?
The only thing that will truly protect full-time jobs in deliveries is a complete rethink on how the job is done.
Moving to two deliveries split with a proper break coupled with realistic outdoor performance standards may be one way to go.
and of course realistic pricing for DSA,if you are delivering a product at a loss the game is bent before you start.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Re: D2D into workload protecting jobs?
The CWU have been banging on about protecting full-time jobs for years, at least for as long as scumbag extraordinaire, Adam Crozier, has been polluting this once-great public service with his foul presence.
Up to now, the CWU has failed miserably, to such an extent, we find ourselves massively undermanned, and under increasing pressure from both RM management and now the CWU, to make up the appalling shortfall of their making.
As long as we have a vote, let's use it wisely, just this once, and vote NO.
If it don't look good, don't sound too good, it'll be because it's no damn good. VOTE NO TO BEING EXPLOITED. VOTE NO TO BEING TREATED LIKE A PACK MULE. VOTE NO TO BEING TREATED NO BETTER THAN A MEDIEVAL SERF.

He is right thought the main difference is that when/if this poor deal goes through then they go into measured workload.banner18 wrote:ashadd wrote:D2D is in the workload now...and RM are paying us now to prep them now...banner18 wrote:I am a bit dubious about the mantra surrounding this.

Re: D2D into workload protecting jobs?
The snag is though we don't know what the revision tools are going to be nor the syllabus for the workshops and what %age is going to be attributed to D2D - there is no doubt that RM are capable of massaging the figures to suit them and they don't mind lying to achieve their aims, so do we agree to a sight unseen measurement tool and trust them or say NO - I know where my X is going.TrueBlueTerrier wrote:He is right thought the main difference is that when/if this poor deal goes through then they go into measured workload.banner18 wrote:ashadd wrote:D2D is in the workload now...and RM are paying us now to prep them now...banner18 wrote:I am a bit dubious about the mantra surrounding this.

Re: D2D into workload protecting jobs?
My rep told me we are not getting paid to do D2Ds or prep them, the £20.60 (pro rata) is a supplement that is gaurenteed for 3 years, after 3 years I can see this supplement being removed and D2Ds being done for nothing

The agreement is for three years I think he is assuming it is just for the life of the agreement - if it lasts that long!belle smith wrote:Were does it say that it's only gaurenteed for 3 years??dblad wrote:My rep told me we are not getting paid to do D2Ds or prep them, the £20.60 (pro rata) is a supplement that is gaurenteed for 3 years, after 3 years I can see this supplement being removed and D2Ds being done for nothing

Page 60 though as with much of this agreement it is vague and prone to NewLabour speak.belle smith wrote:Were does it say that it's only gaurenteed for 3 years??dblad wrote:My rep told me we are not getting paid to do D2Ds or prep them, the £20.60 (pro rata) is a supplement that is gaurenteed for 3 years, after 3 years I can see this supplement being removed and D2Ds being done for nothing
The supplement will increase in value as agreed in basic pay rises. It will flow through in 2011 and 2012.

To be fair to the agreement TBT and it's not often i am ,by "flow through" it means the pay rises will flow through the supplement in 2011 and 2012......I think.

Re: D2D into workload protecting jobs?
Having said that the supplement is only as permenant as all the other allowances that have been sold or given away in countless deals over the years.
