A favourable in put from the goverment concerning our pension problem could swing it from a no vote to a yes vote.
Apologies admin, once i posted this,i noticed anther thread roughly on the same subject............
Not from me it wouldn't!!disheartened wrote:A favourable in put from the goverment concerning our pension problem could swing it from a no vote to a yes vote.

If their was a imput of funds to help our pension it could swing a lot people from no to yes, maybe even myself.DirtyHarry wrote:Nor me, either.belle smith wrote:Not from me it wouldn't!!disheartened wrote:A favourable in put from the goverment concerning our pension problem could swing it from a no vote to a yes vote.
Having our pensions put right shouldn't be dependant on us having to accept worsening conditions of employment.
If thats the case you are being conned.... the goverment will cover the pension deficit, they have to it's in their best intrests! No matter what they say and that is true irrespective of a yes or a no vote!steven100 wrote:If their was a imput of funds to help our pension it could swing a lot people from no to yes, maybe even myself.DirtyHarry wrote:Nor me, either.belle smith wrote:Not from me it wouldn't!!disheartened wrote:A favourable in put from the goverment concerning our pension problem could swing it from a no vote to a yes vote.

Don't panick dvbuk55, Not even the tories would not pay our pension, as i've said before it's in the goverments best intrests, whoever is in goverment, they need the pension part of the PSB more than we do .....trust me.dvbuk55 wrote:Yes the pension fund - I believe the original gambit was vote yes and the pension fund would be looked at - however that hasn't been repeated by anyone in authority and there is no sign of the government taking responsibility for the whole or even part of the deficit - the total of which has been delayed, so there is no knowing what the actual deficit is at this stage.
I would also like to see some concrete evidence in a contractual sense that the government will fund the deficit and in case of losing the election steps are taken to make sure that it cannot be rescinded - but hey what am I talking about, I've more chance of winning the Euro Lottery and I don't even buy a ticket.
You may be right belle but the price would be privatisation whichever government it is.belle smith wrote:Don't panick dvbuk55, Not even the tories would not pay our pension, as i've said before it's in the goverments best intrests, whoever is in goverment, they need the pension part of the PSB more than we do .....trust me.dvbuk55 wrote:Yes the pension fund - I believe the original gambit was vote yes and the pension fund would be looked at - however that hasn't been repeated by anyone in authority and there is no sign of the government taking responsibility for the whole or even part of the deficit - the total of which has been delayed, so there is no knowing what the actual deficit is at this stage.

Why? Even if they put right, what they shouldn't have made wrong in the first place as regards our pensions, why would you accept a deal that like all the previous ones since the "way forward", leads to worsening conditions of employment???steven100 wrote:

Whatever government gets in will slash all final salary pensions and axe 1/5 of all staff in all departments while the government is at arms length from royalmail and our pension has already been raped!. It does not bode well for any pension fund nor anyone who relies on government services or even thinks that the UK government will save the day never mind our pensions for they did not in the first place so i will not hold my breath in waiting for them to do so!.belle smith wrote:Don't panick dvbuk55, Not even the tories would not pay our pension, as i've said before it's in the goverments best intrests, whoever is in goverment, they need the pension part of the PSB more than we do .....trust me.dvbuk55 wrote:Yes the pension fund - I believe the original gambit was vote yes and the pension fund would be looked at - however that hasn't been repeated by anyone in authority and there is no sign of the government taking responsibility for the whole or even part of the deficit - the total of which has been delayed, so there is no knowing what the actual deficit is at this stage.

We might be talking at cross purposes here. I am not saying that our final salary scheme will be reintroduced, it wont be. I am saying that the benifits built up in the scheme will be hounerd....i'm not suggesting that which ever goverment will do this because out of generosity but because its in their intrests!k979aaa wrote:Whatever government gets in will slash all final salary pensions and axe 1/5 of all staff in all departments while the government is at arms length from royalmail and our pension has already been raped!. How will it be honored with £168 billion deficit or 11.7 of GDP!. Greece is in the same situation but it bailed out the workers not the bankers after bailing out the bankers do you think we have enough for all the workers or just even us?.belle smith wrote:We might be talking at cross purposes here. Because they plan to change the pesion scheme into a 'pay as you go public sector pension scheme'!k979aaa wrote:How will it be honored with £168 billion deficit or 11.7 of GDP!. I am sure they would jump at the chance but that is no guarantee of receiving your pension at the end of the day here is the state of the nation as it stands http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/8589156.stm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; this is not a good omen for all in our nation!.belle smith wrote:Because they plan to change the pesion scheme into a 'pay as you go public sector pension scheme'!k979aaa wrote:How will it be honored with £168 billion deficit or 11.7 of GDP!. That means the current £20billion assets held by RMPP (our pension) would transfer to the goverment. Yes they would then have to pay our pensions out of genral taxation in the future. but over a long period of time.
In effect they owe us £10billion, They agree to pay us what they owe, us as and when we need it, and in the meantime we lend them a further £20billion!
they will do it because IT'S GOOD FOR THEM!!
is your point that a under a goverment gaurentee we will not receive our pension, because the country is about to be declared bankrupt. that might be news to everyone with a public sector pension, including MP's.k979aaa wrote:I am sure they would jump at the chance but that is no guarantee of receiving your pension at the end of the day here is the state of the nation as it stands http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/8589156.stm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; this is not a good omen for all in our nation!.belle smith wrote:Because they plan to change the pesion scheme into a 'pay as you go public sector pension scheme'!k979aaa wrote:How will it be honored with £168 billion deficit or 11.7 of GDP!.
