Do you have issues claiming overtime?

Some guys in my office feel intimidated by telling the DOM their o/t from previous day.

I'm curious to here what it's like countrywide.

Do guys in your office work for free and then decide that it's just not worth the hassle to put in a docket?

Hi there, Like the name by the way! In answer to your question. Overtime in our office no longer exists for going over your delivery time. The strong posties start on time and cut off if nescesary....the ones that want a quiet life will work over....for free....before and after their delivery.

in our office.....you can book o/t, but you will be lucky if dom aurthorises it.

if i feel im not going to complete in time i tell my manager before i go out and ask if its ok to book it, this is what you are supposed to do, ask permission to extend before doing it or they can refuse to pay it if its not agreed, or i ring him from my walk. If he says i cannot book any extended then he gets a bag back as a present from me, i have never and will never extend for free, i know my rights and intimidating me doesnt work.

Good for you for having a strong enough constitution to say no. Many people get so much BS from their managers that they feel that their job would be in jeopardy or other staff would take the michael if they said they were bringing back.

A while back i informed my dom i would be cutting off due to unmanageable workloads, he seemed to think otherwise, that i was slacking not going fast enough. So he got one of the linos to count all the mail in the frame, after he worked the figures out his conclusion was that i didn't meet the 25 letter per minute prep rate, and if i left any mail in the frame i would be on a conduct code. So he basically said take the walk out! i went over by 40 minutes but dom only let me claim 20!!

We have to book before we go out on delivery, like today I asked if I could book 30mins which the dom said I could, I know my walk well so know exactly how long it will take me. But it would be better to book the day after just in case you get held up for some reason.

we were told no more o/t our office is over budget. just cull mail on daily basis, but ask lino 1st then do as instructed they can/t come back at you .if still over we bring it back,got to do lapsing 1st that seems to be priorty!!!

How does your DOM get away with culling/failing mail, what does your rep say, can you give us a clue as to what area you
are from.

bloody sure i aint afraid to put in overtime , the first time i dont get paid it back to cutting off for me
