DDOR TO DOORS
Most of the new recruits at my office are claiming that they are told at induction that household delivery items are not compulsory, this was backed up by our union rep. However management insist they are compulsory. Can anyone clarify this?

Strange, especially your rep,as far as i know they are compulsory.
And you can go down the condut code if you refuse to do them.
I've seen guys at my DO's pulled up when they haven't done them.
It's in our contract apparently.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

We are always told we have to do them. We've had a lot of new starters lately so I'll ask them what they have been told.
Th rules changed a few weeks ago and Door-to-Doors are no longer on every round. Companies can choose which rounds do which deliveries so perhaps that choice has also exteneded to the postman.

That has always been the case at our place, different areas have different D-t-D. As for the postman having a choice, i don't think soSpedley wrote:The rules changed a few weeks ago and Door-to-Doors are no longer on every round. At one time in our office you didn`t have to do them, then we changed DOM`s and got told we have to take them or your down the conduct code, anyway was off last week on annual leave and came into six lots of the buggers, 3 from last week as my walk was covered on overtime and the screw was trying to make me take them,so i told him to bog off they should have been done last week and saw my union rep who agreed, screw pulled his face and went off,not talked to me since the soft twat.

That is pretty much how it used to be with us years ago, you were meant to do them but could get away with not. Sometimes though they used to load the blokes up that were on RTI duty but not let them claim the money.
They are s**t hot on us doing them now but surprise, surprise you come back off leave & find the previous weeks worth on your bench. Very few lads returning to work deliver the previous weeks though & screws make no effort in trying to convince us to.
