For those offices that have ‘Long Days’ and ‘Short Days’ (the way it is implemented in our office means Mon Tue and Sat are ‘Short Days, and Wed, Thurs and Friday are ‘Long days’…will the longer Saturday (in the proposed agreement) cut across this?

Will it drop out of the ‘Short Day’ plan?

Will Longs and Shorts still exist?

I suppose it's one of those "Local Agreement" things.
Although i cannot imagine how it will be possible to retain a "short" saturday when the workplan is the same as Mon-Fri and 25% of your staff are off.

Longs and shorts is a national agreement, unless duty content dicates otherwise then longs and shorts it is.

You will also need to look at how much work your D.O has on a Saturday including M3, I suspect my D.O will be less busy than WED THUR FRI but more busy than MON TUE.

If you can still have a shorter Tuesday, why cant you still have a shorter Saturday? As long as you guarantee a clear office............

RM will not want a shorter Saturday because of all the Saturday DSA. If you're guaranteeing a clear office, I assume you mean not booking any o/t? If that's the case then I don't see what you will gain by having a shorter Saturday on paper?

we ve been told long and shorts will disappear thats why this agreements no good its made up as we go along

if you are a leave reserve and do longs and shorts check your hours because if you only ever get a mon,tue or satday off you will be working more then a 40 hour week so royal mail will owe you a bit of cash if you have been on longs and shorts for a year or so

Well that's pretty specific then and it looks like London are still building on the Interim Agreement with ACAS - still it's only been 4 months, so if it takes four months for 1 area how long to do the whole country - answers on a post card to Roger Poole.

Surely our long and shorts will have to be dropped ? How are we going to complete a 100% call rate for a day specific D2D, on a short day ?
We'd end up booking overtime or breaking off
