Manchester roadshow propaganda
The CWU has spent a vast amount of money setting up CWUTV to get its message across to its own members. Communication is mainly in one direction, dictats from HQ are broadcast to the minions. Little effort has been made to help members communicate their viewpoints with HQ. Little effort has been made to get the reality about what is going on in RM to the general public. Roy Mayall seems to be doing a far more effective job than the CWU communications department.
The latest CWUTV coverage of the roadshow in Manchester shows Dave Ward promising that the Door2Door supplement will be there forever. Did he say the same thing about ESA?

Is it not bizare last year there was a thread on here that no one ever saw the national officers and they didt go out of London. Now that they are meeting face to face with every rep in the UK people now moaning they are trying and brainwash people.MinisterofCucumber wrote:The CWU has spent a vast amount of money setting up CWUTV to get its message across to its own members. This is a very compex agreement and needs explaining face to face , reps need the opportunity to ask questions to them and make their points known. On here for example I have heard posters believing the shorter working week costs them an hours money what a load of rubbish. It does not but that is a lack of understanding.
Another example is that people think they will be out on delivery for the whole of their duty. Again another myth , the workplan does not allow for to long a delivery , however will the opportunity to have more over the ground time will maximise full time jobs and allow more part timers to increase their hours which means they increase their pay. Look the agreement introduces car derived vans and in SPDOs where they have had such equipment in the past their delivery spans are longer. In addition the United States , Holland , France Germany Italy have unlimited delivery spans and have vans which make them reduce stress.
The workplan changes will drive what span you have if you dont recieve your second batch of mail from the walk sequencing till 10 and you then have to prep that in with your 60% of your earlier work and do your redirections , dead letters etc then you have to tie up and travel to first delivery point the chances are you wont have much more of a span then now, however if you get your second batch earlier then 10 then you may choose to go longer by local agreement. But that will depend on your rep consulting you .
Now in terms of a difference between grandfather rights for ESA well it is different to a permerent additon to basic pay is that it is for everyone in deliveries not a reserve rights payment. Lets face it if Royal Mail announce tommorow they will cease the diriving allowance reserved rights payment of £6 they would be an outcry but becuase so few people still recieve it there would not be a ballot for strike action. Roll on 10 years and if they do the same on ESA there would not be a fight on that.

Re: Manchester roadshow propaganda
Dingo,
The difference though is that it is the CWU taking the money away, not the employer.
We've captured the monies paid out, as we have with door to door, and then divvied them up equally to all members.
It is this issue that the members have the problem with, as many are losing money.
We could have divvied the money up where we simply paid members a supplement based on their average money from door to door.
And then when they leave the business that payment is captured and goes in the pot.

The 75/25 will be a doddle when it no longer becomes viable for the pt workforce to work for a pittance.

Well then why are the new national standards on geo route(walkspeeds, signing time etc),Indoor work calculations and all the rest not available to every member so they can make their own minds up and not kept secret until after the ballot and then revealed in a workshop with the rep and manager.dingo wrote:Is it not bizare last year there was a thread on here that no one ever saw the national officers and they didt go out of London. We have car derived van duties in our office at the moment and members are still having to take 16kg bags out of the van on sections of the walk to complete, the same thing happens with the HCT - they are used like mobile pouch boxes,so you are pushing the HCT and taking out bags to deliver on your back.
I have had the area delivery rep and area H&S rep down but nowt done about it,the same thing happened when i pointed out deliveries that are over 90% stairs and 16 kg bags are used all the way round, had meetings-they agree im right but jack s**t done about it.Its all about trust cause talk is cheap.

No he did not, read 2007 again.
Early shift allowances in delivery retained as grandfather rights (for those in receipt since April 2007), including those in receipt of equivalent MTSF payments for changes made since May 2005. We will agree how this money, and equivalent MTSF payments for early shifts, may be used going forward as part of the pay restructuring process in Joint Working Group 2 – if no satisfactory solution is found then grandfather rights will be retained. The early shift payment is ceased in delivery on agreement to pay restructuring.

another valuable piece of wisdom NT , really what would we do without your input?

Can we bring forward the next election for GS please?
Perhaps what he meant to say was ES money would be retained in the overall pay bill which is the reality of what is being proposed

Re: Manchester roadshow propaganda
Im looking at the glossy copy of the 2007 agreemnt sent to mbrs dated 09.11.07
Page 3 says "Early shift payment in delivery will be fully protected"
Page 4/5 says "Early shift allowances in delivery retained as grandfather rights (for those in receipt since April 2007), including those in receipt of equivalent MTSF payments for changes made since May 2005. We will agree how this money, and equivalent MTSF payments for early shifts, may be used going forward as part of the pay restructuring process in Joint Working Group 2 – if no satisfactory solution is found then grandfather rights will be retained. So much for plain english
