Do we need to return To pre-SDD?

Post by Union Man »

I say this because it strikes me this agreement is just the culmination of the period we entered on adopting SDD.Does anyone remember this time,Two deliveries working to our time, emptying boxes, mail before breakfast not just before teatime, and strangely making massive profits! Is it time for a palace coupe,to remove both the unimaginative "management" accountants, and also the Union Leadership who seem locked into the same mentality of making a system that is broke, and careering out of controll,to be replaced by one based aroud that reviled word service to the customer, remember them? This pathetic attempt to "Modernize" should be completley junked so we can start again.Just a thought!

One problem - Post Comm.
Even if you convince every postman and woman and every union rep and even most of RM's Manangement staff POST COMM will stamp you out of business.

Absolutely!!!!! The postal service Britain has now, is a pale shadow of the world class service she had pre-SDD.
Profits will go up, profits will go down, either scenario will never become the constant. This constant drive towards maximising profits year in, year out, is dragging Britain's postal service down to the level of third world class.

Postcomm are less than useless. They just give RM enough rope to hang themselves, then fine em.

Which, coincidently,is still slightly above the level of management skills currently being displayed in RM,so still a little way to go till we reach their comfort zone.

Thanks to Postcomm ,the Government and the European Union ,we have to become more efficient at delivering other companys mail -TNT ,UK Mail etc.-so THEY can maximise Their profits at our expense.Let us charge what is profitable for DSA and make it a condition of every mail operators license that they like us have to meet the USO and then we'll have real competition and see them off!

Exactly how I see every business in this country..make more money at every turn, maximise, downsize and see off some staff as well, when will companies just accept making some profit and surviving and be able to ride the bad times and still be in business 100yrs down the line?
We had a world beating service and it all went to rat sh#t cos someone wanted more profit, unfortunately the management in place and some still are, did not know how to go about it properly :whistle

Yes but as their Leader is an ex Conservative Peer, a Free Market champion, and their Policies on RM are vague at best "so we can decide how to run Royal Mail the way we want" - I am not sure its a good use of a vote :hmmmm

UKIP are just a bunch of Tories who wouldn't give two bleedin' hoots about us, or any ordinary working man/woman for that matter.
I've no time for the European union and it's constant meddling in our affairs, I've even less time for this country's middle classes, with their undisguised disdain for ordinary working people.
The Green party will get my vote for sure, in the meantime, I will put up with the farce that is Britain's membership of the European union, until it runs it's course and collapses, as it surely will, and before my time on this earth is up. :Very Happy
