supposedly depends on the 'mitigating' circumstances. was it at work it happened?

if it's your 1st absence since the stage 1 and it'd less than 10 days...should be ok as long as you keep your nose clean until the 12th month is up!?

if you need time off - don't put your job on the line...take a/l or ask for unpaid leave...better to give up a day/weeks pay than a whole careers worth!!

Stage 2 - Two absences or ten days in any six month period during the next twelve months

"take a/l or ask for unpaid leave" - I didn't think that was permitted for illness.

Mundey - the attendance procedure agreement allows the manager to be 'relaxed and flexible where the merits of the case justify it' - if you are given a Stage 2 after you have been hospitalised, don't believe all of this 'no right of appeal' bollocks. Write to Head Office Personnel with a formal complaint, stating that your Manager has victimised you - I was given a Stage 2 after spending time in hospital, this led to me eventually being sacked at Stage 3.. the Stage 2 warning was laughed at by my subsequent Employment Tribunal hearing.

Managers have been told by their bosses to 'apply the attendance procedure as firmly as possible' in light of the recent upsurge in non-attendance, but your absence is valid - don't take any s**t.
