walking speed for a postman?

I know this has been covered before, but what is the agreed walking speed for a postman according to the GOD PEGASUS? And is it carrying a pouch? or pushing a bike? I have just got a new app for my i pod that works out speed , distance ,etc.So today i did 3.66 miles pushing a bike and mail in between houses,it took 3 hours and 15 mins at a speed of 1.13 mph...Am i the world fastest postie , the worlds slowest most feckin useless postie or average postie????

I'm currently on light duties because of foot injury on duty, waiting for hospital appointment.
So I'm only covering half my walk at the moment, I have an app for my Nokia phone caleed Sports Tracker, here is a link to my walk from last thursday & friday. Thurday was a normal day, friday I was at every single door on that part of my duty.

Well i suppose age does come into it , i am mid 50s. The app i use is iTreadmill, it cost 59p. It might not be the best one , but it gives me an idea of what ground i am covering etc etc Is there a better one i could use?

I've run one a couple times on my I-phone called Motion-X GPS. It allows all the usual stuff inc goggle maps overlay, way points max speed/average etc. It also allows you to take photo references etc Lon/Lat etc etc in your tracked walk.

By the way you guys are well pampered looking at your Walk Stats.. I'm in the 50yr plus group and cover mostly large bungalows well spread out..only 350 calls + prep 50 others..Think Docs/Solicitors/dentists etc so loads of stuff compared to a 500/600 + Council estate duty

I normally average anything from 2.1mph to 2.6mph depending on how heavy the mails are. This is mixed walking/biking over my walk and anything between 7.3mls-10mls daily and hit 4mph walking speed in a straight line. My duty was cut post pegusus as I refuse anything beyond 3.5hrs or I would still have another 50 + calls, couple more miles etc. No toilet facilities/shops etc.

CWU need to look at this, as doing this day in/out has fatigue and other long term health implications IMHO which are being ignored

Now we are being told/asked to accept increased delivery spans for a pay cut!

I only walk 12 miles a day and thats right my bags if full of feathers, I dont have any Doc's Dentist or Solicitors but do have shops, pubs, churchs and a school. But by your way of thinking I'm pamered. My walk is 3hours 50 minutes plus 20 minutes lapse on another duty, and did I mention I'm only part time.

I clock 21000 to 22500 steps a day on my walk which works out around 10.5 km. My average speed is only around 4 km/h which is prob about 2.5 mph at best.
Still takes over 4hrs out the office so i guess stopping for parcels take a fair bit of time.
