it seems that if your day off falls on good friday, you don't get a day in leu anymore,because its not a service day whatever that means and it only affects a minority of people and the management have to consider everyone. as if, of course it's a load of rubbish but it makes a change from hearing the usual claptrap about its protecting full time jobs or its because of declining mail volumes.i would like to know what the union position is on this my rep didn,t know anything about it.

Happened to me at Xmas.....boxing day was my day off, no day in lieu and everyone else gained a day off. I worked 4 days that week and one BHol, rest of them 3 days and 2 BHols. Union rep said he agreed with what RM was doing!

I would have thought as Good Friday is a bank holiday you do get a day in lieu if friday is your rotational day off for week.

Christmas 2009 was a different story Monday 28th was classed as Boxing Day thats why people who"s day off was Sat 26th lost out and everybody else got a extra days holdiday out of the goodness of RM heart.

Or at least thats the way i understand it, dont want to offend anybody if i am wrong. .

Friday is a bank holiday so you will be getting the day back I have heard nothing different

Good Friday is not a bank holiday, it is a common law public holiday
Because of the above, RM did not recognise Good Friday as a public holiday, till some years past, we use to work for 2 half times pay or time and half pay and a day in lieu . We did not mind working it as it was a good earner and we had to work Saturday.

Then RM suddenly realised they could save millions by recognising Good Friday , as a public holiday so they did and we lose our big earner and get a pointless day off

There are two common law Public Holidays. good friday is my day off, they better not stitch me up on this one as well ive had enough of their scabbing penny pinching scroogeness. also if i have a friday off i have to work extra hours on a thursday, being that the friday is a bank holiday and my day off, do u think they will expect me in early on the thursday?

thats not losing out, thats just being bitter because other people have an extra day off to you, losing out would be somebody taking away your day off, but you still get that so you havent lost anything you just havent gained

wheres the loss? did you lose money? did you lose your scheduled day off? no you just didnt get an extra day off because your rest day happend to fall on boxing day, its unlucky but you havent lost anything.
