You don't lose 1hr basic pay, we will get paid the same for doing 39 hours that we did for 40 hours, so your down by around 13 pounds a week going by your sums.

Limey is right SWW does not mean a reduction in basic pay, the section on your payslip that shows basic pay will increase, but it appears not by enough to cover the change in DTD/Shift money into a supplement.

Whilst I can see where you are coming from JCL, I have to say many of the reps at the Glasgow briefing had their minds changed regarding door to door after Bob Gibsons presentation.
And please bear in mind most (if maybe not all) of the reps I spoke to prior to the meeting were VERY cynical regarding this part of the agreement.
He was at least honest enough to admit there WILL be losers because of this, if you have as you say had 3 a week for 20 years then clearly you will lose. My office has 2 or 3 most weeks but not 3 every single week.
I would ask for your reaction if RM start automating the D2D (admittedly its a big if) as they are trialling in Swindon right now and you started getting 5 or 6 inside one envelope and paid 1.67p each?

If they were in one single envelope I would be doing one D2D, therefore expecting payment for one D2D at the rate the weight of the item warranted.

Another Question would be how many of the D2D customers would pay to have their items put into an envelope that would more than likely end up in the recycling without being opened. not many in my opinion. therefore an even bigger loss of revenue to RM.

with what Royal Mail will save by making D2D an allowance payment and removing the cap, they could afford to give us a descent allowance
i think £30 would be fair and would get my vote if it was raised.............
at least this way we could bare the lower wages

Will it last longer than the Grandfather Rights given to me for my Early Shift Allowance, or can it be taken away in a couple of years?

If there is nothing from stopping it disappearing in the future, why should I vote to give up my payments for D2D that Royal Mail cannot stop paying while I deliver D2D?

I would ask what happens when we have newspapers, booklets and items containing pens etc etc will these go through the machines?

I don't think any of us are in deial that d2d is a growth product or against a delivery supplement for this - what we are against is losing money to take more, and some people being paid less to do them than others

and please do not tell me p/t will receive less as they won't have to prep them - they are supposed to come in now to prepped rounds and head off out the door - it doesn't happen now it won't happen with d2d either, they will simply be told you are paid for them so get them prepped and taken or it is conduct

I'd be astonished, as you say your self thats a big if, for one thing customer don't want them deliverd like that, and i'd imagine that they would be in breach of the existing agreement.

This sounds like a good cop, bad cop routine.......now we just need to sign our pre writen confession.

I done exactly the same after attending the glasgow meeting, lets put a few facts in the face of your argument, 1) d2d is not a guranteed payment, it could end next year and probably will if a no vote is returned, 2) if they put six in one envelope as they trialled in swindon, your d2d payments drop alarmingly, 3) d2d is now put into your workload, thus protecting our jobs,4) the £20.62 payment is paid 52 weeks a year, not just when you do d2d's, just part of the reason I changed my view, and where do we go if there's a no vote, whats plan b, I would like to know what more you think you can get out of royal mail in this economic climate?

the 20.60 is not 20.60 for everyone!!!!

how is it fair that someone in the caller's office gets 20.60 if they are full time for delivering none and a 25hr man get £13ish for delivering 3,4 or 5 x 700 it is not fair!

and lets not forget d2d are not paid over xmas because we don't deliver them at xmas - under this we will

at the end of the day this deal is a pay cut for many of us and while I did not strike over pay I certainly did not strike to get a pay cut!

Plan B is our cwu leades get back in a negotiate a deal that benefits all employees if they can't or wont then they will find they do not have alot of members left

this is our union and they need to listen to what we are saying

and 1hrs basic £9, thats £49,less tax £11, £38 bring home - and under the new regime I get £20.60 and a % pay rise which is maybe £6, so thats £26.00 less tax of £8, bring home £18 - leaves me £20 down per week and unable to afford childcare and leaves me better off on the rock n roll

Thing is , half the dackheeds in there agreed with his change of heart !! I walked out after 3 mins of his bullshine - incompetent easily led fool

Oh and for what its worth, my d2d sheet this week had 3 x d2d as always , but only 1 turned up

Obviously you have seen the business plan for 2011/2012.
It is fortunate that the PDA can be used for meter reading as well and what with hybrid duties finishing around 6pm then that is ideal for pizza delivery.
I don't get the double glazing cold-calling bit but hey if they add on another supplement.........
