Aren't managers a pain!!!

I think one of the main problems with managers, is that every time you get a new one entering a workplace, they immediately feel the need to change something or to make some new rules, in order to both make their presence felt, and to fulfil their need to feel powerful. I feel that most new managers will immediately change something, regardless of whether or not it would actually benefit anything, and nine times out of ten, it makes things much more difficult for everyone.

At my delivery office, we seem to keep swapping managers with nearby depots, and that means that there can sometimes be new managers there every day, all coming and going, but as soon as one seems to get their foot in the door, they immediately change something, to make their presence felt.

Now you see we have had so many managers coming and going over the past few months, all changing something, that now the rules and procedures at the depot are a complete mess!

It seems that almost every day, some new "initiative" appears, that does nothing more than make things either slower, or more awkward for all of us.

Some examples include:

Re-arranging all the sorting frames. (Seriously, you would think the frame for duty 1 would be next to duty 2 and so on, but not at our office!)

Forcing everyone to stay in the office until 10:15. (even if we are all ready to go at 8:15! (ok, that is rare))

Changing the signing in and out procedures and door to door sheets. (We have to re-learn a new system almost every week!)

And of course, all this changes very quickly.

I am of course only referring to my office, but surely it must be happening everywhere!

So I ask, would we be better off if managers did not keep swapping places, or even if we did away with them completely?

We've got a manager who's been there ages who keeps trying to fix things that aren't broken and pisses everyone off in the process... Not just new managers! The latest new one I've seen is a reet lazy git. Brown nosed his way in.

Same in Bristol Mail Centre. Wasnt always like that though. One manager started it about 5 years ago and then it seemed to give the green light to all the others who tried to keep up/compete with him. Everything must be changed in a small way constantly but with no effect on the end result. Managers must swap jobs on a tiny timescale and never do the job that their supposed to be doing. Moving everything round and never being where your supposed to be creates an illusion of being busy and a valuable asset. The managers location is hard to pin down so anyone looking wont know how many there are of them. A smokescreen of movement and insecurity through constant changes no one person can keep up with. There must be nearly one hundred of them now all competing over the next project and to keep hold of that £37000. Without team working they will keep raking it in for years to come when 40% of their day is spent just looking at other people working.

ALL THESE NEW MANAGER TRICKS ARE DONE TO MESS YOU ABOUT AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE AND MAKE ANYBODY WITH ANY DECENT AMOUNT OF SERVICE LEAVE!!!! BELIEVE ME,I HAVE SEEN ALL THIS s**t BEFORE IN MY PREVIOUS EMPLOYMENT, THOUGH NOT TO THE SAME EXTREMES!!!!! VOTE NO FOR THIS SHITE AGREEMENT.
