recorded signed for cock up

Hi, I'm sure i had a recorded signed for letter today but whilst out on delivery i didn't come across it.
I've either delivered it unsigned or lost it, what should i do?

Dont panic this has happened to us all at some time.
Mention it to your manager that you may have posted a RD without getting a signature and you dont know what the address was.Wait and see what happens,they may complain they may not.
Different story if its a Special
When you prep your walk keep all your RDs to one side,at the end of prep count them,them set them in to your walk at the front of the address so that you can see them,you may even want to turn them round and write on the back RD.

That's the weird thing, i always leave signed for stuff out until the end and put it at the front for that address.
I'm worried that it may have gone to the wrong address or i've lost it.

If youve lost it then so be it,its not the first and wont be the last time this has happened,im sure it will turn out all right.

Done it to a recorded a few years back (it had one of those black and white labels on it not the orange one) told my manager and he was fine about it told me not to worry as the worst thing to happen is the sender would claim for the item up to 30 odd quid if they could prove the value. Nothing ever came of it.
Also posted a special when i first started by accident also told them about that and they asked me to try to get a sig when i finished work and try again the following day if not in, they were not in so manager asked if me if i was sure i had posted it and i knew i had as even now it haunts me seeing the special going into the letter box and i just watched it thinking OH FCK and then it was to late, so they made me sign for it covering themselves again nothing ever came of it. Now i always write out the P739 and put it at the front of that addresses mail with the item behind if small or in pouch if larger. SDs i do before starting delivery.

Recodred - rareley any problems,do as the others say leave thhem out the prep till the end.

I think a lot of people are making mistakes because everyones rushing about in the office and on the street as theres not enough time to do the job nowadays. its now about profit and f c k the customers.!

Oops, in all conscience you should report it. It may lead to you being taken down the coduct code,but surely better that than spending weeks waiting to see if you are found out. But, as everyone else says, do not worry too much as we've all done this.
