RM was going to scrap all payments for d2d. The £8 is better than nothing. (net loss)

Listen, it was the union that secured payment for d2d many years ago and yes they have been slow to up payment of these but, RM wanted long ago not to cap these and the Union stopped that happening.
If RM could increase their share of the market (5%) only then would you see a massive increase, this is not going to happen anytime soon as they are pricing themselves out of the market, in the future, yes they may increase and a better way of delivering these e.g. in a sleeve, may happen but the Union have secured a payment when RM would have scrapped it saving £1.7m a week.
If F/T working can be saved or increased this is a step in the right direction and if I can/cannot complete because of workload then duties will need to bo looked at again

I find it totally bemusing that people can say "well RM wanted to just stop paying for D2D" - well they fecking have in most cases - we are actually paying the 20.60 with our own money - the ESA and the first lot of D2Ds - each extra D2D is free and clear profit for RM and we get nothing! There is nothing to stop RM now lowering the price on D2D and hey presto the market opens up miraculously and we will be flooded with D2D.

I see what the union have tried to do but they have gone about it the wrong way - we should have negotiated a set payment without us having to fund it and have the D2Ds collated ready for delivery.

Difficult though to put those sort of deals together when you are receiving payment for services rendered. I just wonder if the "integration in the management structure to be put on a secure financial footing" will still be on the table if it's a NO and THAT is why they are so desperate to get a YES vote.

You have no idea what you're talking about scarlett. If this deal gets a yes vote, then there will be no payment for d2d items. They'll be incorporated into our workload. Sooooooo any d2d contracts RM get will be complete profit. So they will be undercutting all the major direct mail agent's(TNT or whoever else deliver them). And hence we shall be be getting 4,5,6,7,8,or more a week. Especially nearer the end of the week. Friday and Saturday.

Well is it totally at our expense! I wonder if Royal Mail aren't stupid then neither is the union when it comes to self preservation, Sooooo you have to wonder where the money for the new secure financial footing for the union is coming from - well I would imagine it will be like that song "Old Man Postie" - "tote that bag, push that cart, get a little slow and you're on the dole".

But unless you are given the time to do 4,5,6,7,8, or more D2D then the quality of service will not be there and they will not be able to keep the contracts.

Crockboy, it is plain english that if you hold a minority share e.g. in D2d you cannot suddenly increase your share in the market overnight!!!
RM would have to reduce their cost to even tempt anyone giving them business, and anyone with a massive amount of calls on dely will have all extra work taken into account as it is now workload and call rates will have to be dropped to allow dely's to complete.
Some people on here just need to work the job properly and would they rather have no payment in years to come..
