Starting A New Union From Scratch

It would take far too long to setup a new union, something is needed now not next year.

However, I'm sure the CWU leadership could be forced out far more easily with a vote of no confidence. We could then replace them with representatives who have the members best interests at heart and not thier own pockets now wouldn't that make a nice change

That was kind of my thinking.They're in bed with RM and no longer represent the rank and file.Did you read the link in the first post mate?

Royal Mail already recognise more than 1 union.
The managers are represented by Unite.

A union that fairly and accurately represented it's members would be the objective.

Just what will this new union be able to do?

no links to the XXXX party they wouldn't want your money anyway. Aschcroft looks after them.
This new union will obviously reject this agreement and ask the members to go on the streets. One question how long before members start to drift back.
1 week 2 weeks or 3 weeks. It will be all out an stay out because RM have already used scab labour and set up a mirror service so they have learnt a lesson!
Just enquiring because if called I will stay out but look around and see how many would be out with us?

Hey,I wasn't proposing to run it!

I can only speak for my own DO but we had about 95% turn out.I don't know how it is across the board,granted,but there were only two strike breakers that I know off and zero agency staff brought in.

And there is where the problem is. How many are against this and how many can stand! I don't believe at this present point in time that we would get the numbers. Timing is everything.

With a union already established it would be a long hard task. Easier to change the guys at the top in CWU HQ. We just need people with commitment to US at the top rather than themselves and their own jobs. Vote of no confidence.
