I like many other am absolutely disgusted by this so called agreement, Im just amazed our our union that are supposed to represent our best interest could agree to what in effect is a pay cut, I myself will lose £25 a week (based on 3 D2D contracts). now we are being asked to vote..FFS do turkeys vote for christmas??
However I have a real bad feeling that this will get through with firms town centre and indoor staff voting it through because they stand to lose sweet sod all and will get a handsome pay rise in the process.
I say if this happens delivery walk staff should make our protests in the only way our union will understand..WE SHOULD JUST WALK AWAY..yes save yourself 3 quid a week..make your protest known to your local rep..LEAVE THE UNION.
I went on strike for 4 days for a pay cut, you couldn`t make it up!!!

At leasts your getting paid as for RM with no union they would have you working 24 hours a day for min wage and only paying you on a one hour contract, so when you are on a/l you would get nothing times are hard this is the best we could get at least we have a job and a union in place.

Dont walk into RMhands once the union is destroyed you might as well get a job at burger king, Managers will be next to go so make your own decision but answer this how many full timers took a buy down and dont have to do ips and claim all 100~% of d2ds know once the union has gone we will all be part time doing ips working 40 hours a week because we come in early and dont take breaks getting paid for 28 hours. Do the job properly and we will overcome cut corners = pay cut job and go has to go. :mfo

royal mail delivery staff are paying for the rest of the workforces pay rise .i agree with the above post all union subscriptions should be stopped perhaps then the union will think twice about agreeing to a pathetic agreement. which union goes into talks and comes out with less than they went in with. makes you think how well the union have done out of this.its a no vote for me

if royal mail invested in the technology available for the last 20 years half the mail centers would have already gone. every item of mail sorted in my office is sorted by hand not one piece of machinery.the main reason i believe these changes are been made is to make the royal mail look good for part privatization if that happens we will all be on minimum wage

Do the sensible thing, vote NO then call HR and tell them you want to cancel union payments. I'll be leaving for atleast 2 weeks before rejoining, possibly a month, just long enough for CWU HQ to get the message strong and clear - THEIR jobs are on the line. That's all that they seem to care about so hit them where it hurst.

Without our subs they will have to make cost-saving redundancies, they might even have to start pounding the streets delivering d2d to supllement their drop in membership.

The accounts statement was read out by Tony Kearns, he said because of the business's initiatives to reduce headcount this has had an adverse affect on the CWU funds, for the first time since 2002 a deficit was banked for 2008, this could be a worrying trend and therefore we need to strip 3 to 4 million by 2012

All they need to do then is call in Hayes and Wards et all interest-free CWU funded mortgages. Let them switch to high-street mortgages like the rest of us and free up the CWU sub money they are missusing and loosing savers interest on.

you have no idea how worse off we would be without a union, we would be well and truely stuffed, we would have stopped getting paid for d2d years ago and not even had a suppliment in replace. Now im not by no means saying this is a good deal as yes i do think they could have done better, but everyone leaving the union wont help and will screw us all in the long run.

I suggested leaving the union only for a few weeks to give them a SHORT SHARP SHOCK. Just what they need. However with a RM tie-in they probablly wouldn't give a feck.

This post gets to the nub of it TBH. Okay some are upset at what the Union have come out with and feel aggrieved and disillusioned. But if there is a mass exodus at some point either the CWU folds or it reaches a point that RM can de-recognise it. Once it does that agreements will no longer exist and we will not be able to vote on them they will be imposed and one things for sure instead of RM slowing down the race to MW we will go to it in one giant bound.

in our delivery office during the strikes last year a very large MAJORITY went into work as normal.this was mirrored in many other delivery offices in our area.
if this situation is the same around the country then royal mail probably see delivery staff as strike breaking donkeys who will accept anything just to get finished a little bit early every day.
delivery staff have brought this on them selves with their actions over the years.
now you can revert to type and take all the sh*t royal mail throws at you or you can grow a set and show them (royal mail and the union) that you WILL fight this bloody awful deal they "negotiated" for you,but remember in future you should show some solidarity with ALL of your colleagues and join the fight during strike action instead of working as normal and then accepting any benefits that are won during said strikes without losing any pay.

Out every time when asked by the union. Indeed out when asked not to by the union some time ago. If you leave the union you punish not HQ but the ordinary postie. If you don't like the decisions made by HQ stand and get voted in. Look if you believe that Ward/Hayes can go back in and get a better deal with a general election around the corner and also ask the government to take on the pension deficit I think you are living in cuckoo land. Who knows maybe RM and government will say sorry of course it was a joke here have what you want!
