A Question for Lovejoy

Post by gb93 »

Have not had all informing light shedding branch meeting yet so was wondering if you could answer this.

The everybody has to reach top 10% performance standard thats in proposed agreement.

Is this judged by office or individual, give me a definitive answer to this and how it benefits members and you might just get another yes vote.

The process is that the your D.O is measured against the best performing comparable size offices. This is fine when measuring indoor performance,
however it becomes flawed when you measure IPWH, because the outdoor element is swayed for instance - 2 similar size offices, one largely rural, one urban,
you can hardly compare the IPWH of the two when, chances are you will be alot more efficient delivering in an urban area as apposed to a rural.

The other problem with this system is - you may have two offices with similar amount of dels, however 1 has a collection hub attached, unfortunately
when measuring IPWH, the collection hub hours are added in therefore making you look worse than you are, when actually counting del hours only you
may be more efficient than the other unit.
IPWH, every hour inc collections

Thanks for reply Steviea34 but it does not really answer my question or allieviate my concerns.

Was hoping Lovejoy could do that, hopefully he is preparing a full and thorough answer which will do all that.

Sorry mate, will be top 10% for office as target, however using performance tools, i.e IWT, each postperson
contributes to this target by measuring individual performance, i.e 100 BSI targets. These tools are what are agreed in principle
however i have yet to have any firm numbers communicated, that is why i find it bizarre we would agree to new targets without
knowing what those targets are :hmmmm

It means that "no matter how hard you work or no matter how fast you are - if ten percent of the workforce performs better than you then your job is in danger, even if you meet the elastic and constantly changing targets that your manager makes up."

Many of the functions within our business that are supposed to support delivery are already working to the ten percent formula.

Ten percent of boxed large flats are actually letters.
Ten percent of dtd's are late arriving
Ten percent of the missort run goes to the wrong office
Ten percent of uniform orders never turn up
Ten percent of stamped mail arrives uncancelled
Ten percent of bags don't turn up on time
Ten percent of managers are actually okay
Ten percent of overtime claims are ignored

Thanks for answer Stevie.

But as you say so many questions left unanswered before vote takes place.

I suppose we will just have to trust them :Very Happy .

I take it Lovejoy cant or does not want to answer this question.

Shame my vote could make a difference or maybe he is pretty confident of a yes without it.

Or maybe he does not want to influence my decision :Very Happy .
