Work in a small office in North Yorkshire and today, area manager and area union rep both came to the office and both were saying what a good deal it was! The union rep told one p/t worker they would get more hours ! First time we have seen him in a year and this is what he says!

Part timers you will get what.. 4 more hours a week..........

THESE 4 HOURS ARE BASICALLY GOING TO BE WORKED FOR FREE AFTER THE PAYCUT OF AROUND £35 PER WEEK.

Sorry I dont understand the pay cut bit. My shift allowance is £4.65 whilst the increase to basic pay is £5.20 on a 30 hour week. I will have £15.45 supplement and my DTD when I do them certainly do not come anywhere £50 a week which is the figure I would need to take a £35 paycut.

If I had £50 DTD money I would be gagging at the bit to do my 80% not giving them to my floater.

Yeah, getting back to the point of this post. Our local rep seems to be trying to say its a good deal but looks kinda sheepy about it. Hard sell tactics indeed. Why don't they just be honest about it. It's a crap deal and everyone knows it.

And that would achieve what exactly? I don't particularly like the union nor have I done for a few years, but I've still supported them and gone out on strike, admittedly as time goes by I wonder why I'm paying my £3 especially with deals like 2007 and this apparently great deal we could get now!

The union needs "tweaking" higher up as people like Hayes appear to be out of touch with the real union - swanning off and doing talks, bloated pay packet, no wonder he's out of touch. Ward is no better, if they think this is a great deal they aren't doing a very good job of convincing me or anyone else (in all fairness the deal isn't that bad, it's the lack of any firm details that RM will exploit, just like the 2007 deal).
