Are you sure - I can with absolute certainty say that members of Unite crossed your picket line, or if you were not there, the Units Picket Line.bwfcmaddog wrote:just a thuoght ,if i quit this shambolic union could i jion a different one say unite??????????![]()

Re: Joining a new union
Well possibly the GMB which sells itself as a General Union, but TBH would they have the knowledge, expertise and resources to take on RM.bwfcmaddog wrote:who else could we jion thenTrueBlueTerrier wrote:Are you sure - I can with absolute certainty say that members of Unite crossed your picket line, or if you were not there, the Units Picket Line.bwfcmaddog wrote:just a thuoght ,if i quit this shambolic union could i jion a different one say unite??????????![]()

Not sure of their history either but I have a feeling they are generally thought as a little to the right of the CWU.

R/M will not recognise another union and if ever the occasion arose for you to be represented by them R/M would just ignore them so if i were you think very carefully.

Another Union
There is a lot of talk in my unit of quitting the CWU.
So I was wondering if any postal members are represented by a union other than the CWU?

Re: Another Union
I know approaches have been made to another union. I do not know of the outcome.

Its not the same person is it in another guise?
My suggestion would be to speak to them, I met some reps from Unite during the dispute and they stood with our picket line. They also wrote down the names of managers crossing and doing our work.
It was not Unite who crossed our picket lines it was RM managers who scabbed.

Re: Another Union
Why the talk about other Unions before a vote has been caste? First things first every member should be working to secure the vote they wish and worry about other things as they come up after.
CONDEMNATION.

Re: Joining a new union
Heard recently of a couple of engineers from openreach(BT), being accepted by GMB.
When CWU got wind of this HQ sent a representative to address their concerns.

Re: Joining a new union
RM already recognise unite - but the point is not what they would do for us in terms of negotiating, because what would be the point, what we would look for is representation and legal protection on a personal basis - the unit as a whole would negotiate for itself - AS WILL BE THE CASE NOW - unite aren't totally out of the loop because they already represent managers - if the CWU called a strike you would just go into work - what would be the point of striking for another pay cut.MoNkEyBoY wrote:R/M will not recognise another union and if ever the occasion arose for you to be represented by them R/M would just ignore them so if i were you think very carefully.

Re: Joining a new union
DVD do you really want the same union as our managers i dont. If the union called a strike on the gate i would go not into work why would i go into work. If this is rejected the union will not be asking its members to stand on the gate why because in Dave Wards words they have no option B so another strike is pointless.
If people want to leave the CWU before voting on this agreement well let them but when pay rises are negoatiated do these people think its going to be there union whos neg that no it will be the CWU.
People really do need to wisen up and stop being daft we the members have the power to reject this offer if it is accepted it will be accepted by the members not dave ward or billy hayes. So who do you shoot the members or the leaders, the leaders have only put an offer on the table for us to accept or reject ( I will be rejecting ) All this shite about people leaving the union well lets see how fast they come running back to the CWU when things go bollox up, why because R/M mangement WILL not recognise another union alls i can say is leave then see if they do you will be rather shocked ( dvd that comment is directed at you)
Just remember folks we the members decide whether we accept this offer.

Re: Joining a new union
I won't play sycophant to a disgraced leadership and I won't support them either. Why would I care what the CWU do, if this deal goes through it will no longer matter to anyone when they become just another tier of RM management.
Reps are important and will do the every day representation and negotiation on a local level and even more so. Now under the new agreement the problems must be resolved locally. Should it come to full time union representation it won't matter who it is and in some respects it could be beneficial because RM wont be the paymaster.
Your moneys good anywhere.
