why dont the union listen

as a member of the union for coming up for 40years and went out every time we have had a dispute i cannot help feeling that we have been let down badly on this agreement.
the pec will look at sites like this and see that the members dont want to be delivering late on saturday afternoons and we did'nt want to lose money on d2d's but they went ahead and have come up with these contentous issues as big problems.
the union will use the meetings coming up in the next few days to try and sell it to the reps who in turn will be asked to sell it to us but i think the union have badly underestimated the anger of the rank and file.
if this deal does'nt get voted in thenthe pec will know why.

I've been a union member all my working life, but these last ten years or so, have been disgraceful. This deal if it gets through, means our jobs don't get any better, and will certainly become a great deal worse. Ye Gods, with friends like the CWU, who needs enemies, eh?

me & the the better half both work for RM & if this criminal deal gets a yes vote we will both withdraw from the CWU put the saved membership fees in a jar and after a year we have a FREE three hundred pound holiday !!!! if not join UNITE that union seems to have some bollocks !!!

90% .is not 100% i will have to be one of the 10% that did not go for dave`s b/s.Too many members will get the push if this goes through never mind about the"" work much harder for less pay" any rep who falls for the cwu hype is a self serving disgrace.If this comes back with a no after a vote does that make the pec position untenable?

What is the alternative? Lets see we go out on road again and this time we are kept out. Now what happens then? well the bloody tories come in and we get well and truely turned over! I know some delivery lads will lose out on a weekly payment but D2D could/might disappear next year! Now at present £51 million paid out and this will depreciate year on year. So Gibson got £54 million to ALL delivery in their pay packets with a good chance of it going pensionable in 3 years time! The union has taken the long term view that the rising of basic pay is the best way to go. The present situation is not viable.
Those who advocate leaving the CWU and going to UNITE remember UNITE said yes to a pay cut on the basic! In the present climate this deal gives payrises with bonuses and the best EVR packages going! Those who want to go can! those who what to stay can! If you can't bring yourselves to vote yes abstain because if you vote NO you better be sure that when we are locked out and people start to drift back that you have a rational plan to get what you want!

Yes pcb great but this is about MORE than EVR and basic wages. How about an increased workload, far longer out on delivery, full day Saturdays, managers with a whole new barrage of tools to get rid of 'slow workers'. You will be below job spec if you don't match the top 10%!!! That is totally unbelievable, unnacceptable and a complete hatchet job for guys who want to do the job properly. The pegasus details haven't been sorted and could go all RM's way. This ISN'T just about d2d money, it's a lot bigger than that.

Big fat pay cut but try to hide it. 24,000 job losses and they talk about job security increasing. Members unable to cope with the present workload and and some bright spark negotiates an increase . To cap it all, if you don't like it tough s**t.
There are alternatives; 35hr week ;£80 per week pay rise ;3.5hr walks ;PT's contracts made up to the hours they actually work.

Whats that you say "get real there is no money, RM can't afford it" Baloney ,stop delivering DSA for a loss , raise the postage price to European levels. They could more than double their revenue overnight.
The fat cats need the USO but they want postal workers to pay for it, and you are doing with more work for less money and a fast disappearing pension, and all with the active and vigorous support of CWU HQ

I agree with you Belial, but I think an £80 increase on top of a 5hr/wk reduction to be unobtainable....however, an extra £40 should be achieveable ( I don't care if it goes straight into wages or via d2d supplement ), we already have the 3.5hr delivery span....what's wrong with maintaining it ( or if it must be increased, why not have a gaurentee of 2-3hrs max delivery, then return to office for M/R, before resumption of delvery ), and the whole PT contract thing is a massive smoke screen - either pay OT rates for every second over your hours ( where else do you have to work 15hrs before getting time & half! MInd you, where else do you go to get a lower rate of OT the more you do? ), or increase basic hours to what is realistic.....if it takes 35hrs a week, pay 35hrs a week

I'd like to know how some of you survive on your current pittance? I'm about to lose my morning allowance £12.37, D2D £27 and weekday SA £66.36 for the mamoth £20 uplift - against a backdrop of domestic price hikes over the last two years. I estimate that I will be worse off to the tune of £86 and the proposed minimal incremental rises over the next 3 years will underline our race to the bottom. Customers who have seen my payslip are left in disbelief when I explain that its for a SIX day week - "I always thought that a postman was a well paid job?" Yea - and we only need 1 half empty bag for our walks, drink copious amounts of tea and are home in time for Kilroy.

We've been on our knees ever since I joined 10 years ago. We are now a demoralised, bullied and sub serviant workforce that has grown to be thankful for any crumbs that fall from the Lairds table. Dont forget that this business actually makes a profit. Can you imagine how savage it will be if we'd made a loss? Our Union leadership has failed us yet again and we must use this upcoming vote to demonstrate how badly they let us down . Can we afford not to fight?
