d2d change to payments - CWU made decisions

An Area manager told our rep this morning that Royal Mail were starting to let it be known that they had nothing to do with deciding who got the d2d money and early shift payments. It was a CWU decision, they decided how to spread the money around. He asked a 'higher' union official and he didn't deny it.

Sounds very possible to me. It would explain the panic now that it's all going very wrong, with one very large branch about to recommend a 'no' vote after tomorrow's hastily arranged meeting in Manchester. If that does happen then the whole game changes.

its interesting as you would have thought the ESA money that "disappears" would only benefit RM in the long run, witch then begs the question why would they negotiate to have that money spread out to everyone increasing with every pay rise?

i doubt very much we will ever find out exactly who negotiated for what but it is all abit iffy.

I will not be brain washed tomorrow theres nothing they can say that will make me vote yes and i will let them know if given the chance.

Plus i aint going to try and sell this to the lads in my office no way.

On D2Ds under the Cwu proposal i will be £28.75 a week down tally that up over the year and im at a lose of £1380 pay increase my arse more like a decrease .

When they crossed the I,s and dotted the Ts they must have been tuned in to the big cheese in the sky.

R/M must have been laughing there socks off and rolling about on the floor when dave and billy closed the door behind them with big cheshire cat smiles on there faces patting each other on the back.

Is there a secret hand shake for all RMC members that are at the meeting tomorrow let us know would be nice to put a face to some of these screen names.

I'm not in the habit of speaking up to defend the CWU regarding this agreement, but I don't think they've ever denied this. My understanding from some of the people on here posting to push the deal, is that RM told them how much was available and the union decided how to distribute it.

looking at it like that it would seem they done good, but its such a shame because in reality i think the amount of money some people will loose just doesn't justify it

Agreed, the distribution was more about trying to secure a yes vote, rather than fairness.

The set up of the meetings is very relaxed from what I hear and every rep is encouraged to have their say.
