If it's a YES vote, will you GENUINELY leave the CWU?

I just wanted to get a snapshot, in as short a way as possible, of what my RM cousins would do, IF the "2010 and Beyond" gets a YES vote.

There has been a lot of passion and comments from many about leaving, but I would like to know, hand on your heart, if you will REALLY do it.

I have not included an "UNSURE AS YET" sort of option as I think that you should all be aware of the ins and outs of what effect this Agreement has on your T's & C's.
So no sitting on the fence allowed on this one

Yes i would leave the union after 26 years all the industrial action i feel betrayed by the leaders who are pushing this deal.

Even though I'm totally opposed to this new agreement and will be voting against it, I can't see me leaving the CWU, things are bad now but I'd hate to see what would happen if the union collapsed completely. Stay and try to change from within (I know it's a remote chance but it's at least a chance).

PS. Remember that most of us get a massive amount of help from the local reps and if/when this deal comes in then we're going to need them more than ever.

I think a lot will depend on how local reps approach the ballot.
If they truly represent there own members and refuse to actively sell the deal then i believe many members may reciprocate that loyalty and support their local rep by staying in the union.
If they simply toe the party line there may be a backlash.

Deal is crap and we are the only Union ever to go on strike for a paycut!

But proably even more important now to be A union Member.whilst nationaly the CWU work hand in Glove with the Management and do not listen to their grass roots members.
Its becoming ever more difficult not to be the victim of bullying Management .Its A bit like a insurance Policy if s**t happens,ie loosing a special,cutting off
etc,who is going to help.

If you have a good local rep its like cutting your own throat if you leave .
what is needed is fresh blood through the union at all levels and one that is independent of any Polictical Party.

You MUST stay, just to protect your backs against RM, DOM's & Linos. What they will get up to if it's a "Yes" vote doesn't bear thinking about!

Disgusted with aspects of this deal but will stay a Cwu member, i think in the coming months we will all need to band together to stop even more unacceptable practices creeping in at some offices, on some mad doms initiative once this deal has been ridden roughshod over the delivery staff

I will stay a CWU member BUT if i was ever required to go out on strike again i would have to give that some serious thought!!!

it's not a good agreement but royal mail would be a minimum wage outfit if there was no union

I would stay although I feel let down big time by the union, we went on strike and lost money and took on royal mail for more work and a pay cut, yeah good deal well done

yeah i would stay, but the union really need to take a good look at themselves and think how they have agreed to such pish terms.

for the record and i probably speak to most of us here, the only reason i would stay is not because im loyal to cwu ( i used to have faith once) but because there is no better alternitave. If we had more than 1 union i would drop cwu like a shot for this pile of crap they call an agreement.

Is there any way to remain a member but BOYCOTT the dues? Can we contact RM human resources and ask them to NOT pay out to CWU? If we organised say a one-month boycott of our dues, maybe we could get the Union to listen...

It's probably not possible, but it's an idea. I would LOVE to tell the CWU to shove it, but as been said, they're better than the alternative...
