I hear Dave Ward is coming up to the north east to give a meeting for all unit reps at York - of course Royal Mail for once is more than happy to allow the day off.

Pretty bloody rich. Our leaders cant bother to get up North and around the branches once to build the strike last year, but the minute they have a rotten deal to sell they are up here in a jiffy. What a bunch of cowardly bureaucrats.

Just what I was thinking.
Just imagine how solid the strike would have been if they had put in even 1/10 of the effort they giving to get these cuts in pay,increased walk spans and redundancies ,accepted.
Strange back to front times we live in;pay cuts are "rewards"; redundancy gives job security; fewer walks means more jobs; unions squash strikes and push for more work for less money and job cuts

Odd to say that reps had been told to hang fire until AFTER this meeting on Thursday at the conference centre in Manchester - because they do NOT want a negative attitude passed on to the membership - this is a form of censorship.

Our branch has also called a meeting of Reps in Manchester after the meeting with this snake and expect to get a show of hands on the the branch recommendation WITHOUT PASSING THE INFORMATION TO THE MEMBERSHIP FOR THEIR CONSIDERATION - somehow these branch officers seem to have put the cart before the horse - we tell them what the branch recommendation will be NOT they tell us - they are the elected representatives for our opinion not the other way round.

It's time for a bloody good shake up of this little gentlemans club - and with money from the CWU going to get a bit tight, they may have to start looking for gainful employment.

I won't be going to the "rally" as I've read reports from similar meetings and I don't envisage it being any different. I've got no interest in being preached to at any time and certainly not by people who claim to have my best interests at heart.

I won't be going back to the staff telling them it's a good deal and I won't be telling them to vote for it.

I would absolutely love to be there BUT the invitation is for reps only and I am not a rep, merely an interested bystander - really we should be able to submit written questions to be answered - we don't need to be told what the agreement is just have the questions answered.

ask him from me if he was incompetent, deceitful or just plan stupid when he came out shouting to the press how great the agreement was and how well they had all done before it had even reached the membership

HQ really does need a shake up
