Diagnosed with hallux rigidus, what next?

Been working through pain for a good few months now but the pain has really been affecting my work (adding approx 1 hour to my duty at LEAST). I thought it was something I would eventually shake off, initially thought it was gout which I understand happens in bouts so was waiting for it to be over, which never materialised. Doctor diagnosed hallux rigidus which I suppose can be completely verified if needs be. I am not sure what happens now, I suppose that there is treatment, does anyone have any experience of this ailment or can give me an idea of my next move if it is going to affect my job.

if so, so your legal and medical rep and ask for an LS3 form if you think RM (your job) are the cause of your pain.

Hallux Rigidus is usually a symptom of faulty foot mechanics and tends to run in families with problematic foot types and/or with Rheumatoid or Osteoarthritis.
Symptoms can also be caused by an injury to the big toe or a repetitive type strain injury.
Might be worth a shout with RSI or if you have an AOD on your record involving your foot.

Twisted my ankle about a year ago on duty, same foot that is plagued by the injury now. Symptoms never materialised until approx 6 months ago.

Twisting your ankle may have caused you to alter your foot mechanics to favour the ankle thus triggering the RSI.

Yeah they chop off your legs at the ankles and fit wheels to your stumps so you can do Park and loop.

As long as they are recycling the old HCT's to do it that's fine, wouldn't want to inflict any unnecessary cost.
