Well i don't know about any of that but i do know that pressure will be applied on unit reps to conform to the new CWU/RM business model of co-operation and
non-confrontation which although sounding good on paper may limit their effectiveness and ability to properly represent their members interests.

I have unfortunately seen signs of this already with some reps throwing their weight behind this deal without even forming a coherent argument to explain that suddden urge to sell a poor deal.

It all depends how strong a Union base you have in your Office,
It's the membership who must support and backup your local Reps, and not undermine them.
It really pisses me off when I hear people constantly complaining to Reps that their walk is to hard or to heavy but will not stop coming in early and continue to work through their breaks, All Royal Mail sees is that you are finishing early therefore you have time to do more work.

We are already in a very similar position,our local rep can argue,and even have a valid point,only to be
overriden by his Area rep,who actually agrees with the manager.
I can only see this 'relationship' getting worse,and can even hear the manager now,saying "well i have the full backing
of your union"

What it will mean is that your average unit rep is going to be under tremendous pressure to accommodate the changes without compromising the membership - and without any knowledge of what the revision tools are - here's a rock and here's a hard place. For units without a union rep may I suggest rubber handled brushes

i think its so they can attempt to sell the "great deal" to the reps, i'm guessing Dave Ward will be there

i do know that they have no chance to sell it to him though, and he has no chance of selling it to us either

Well you may well be amazed at the transformation these meetings can engender - was it Saul on the way to Damascus - one rep on here was inspired after an explanation of the deal.

No-one should ever forget that the words are the words - it doesn't need an explanation, no cap on D2D, no limit on delivery span and a pay cut - that's the reality for delivery offices and no matter how you dress it up, those are the facts.
