wrong pay

Post by wigglywoo12 »

hi folks
just discovered ive been paid wrong for 3 and a half years i never looked into this before as i just thought that wage office did my hours correct basically ive been missing 12mins a week for 3 and a half years which works out at about £400 got my dom to speak to payroll about it and he has told me he dosent think i will get it back and if i do it will only be a fraction because 1)he said i may be told i should have said something earlier which i would have done if i thought there was a problem!!! 2) he thinks there is a six month cap on incorrect payments working both ways i.e overpayment and underpayment anyone know where i stand on this

thankyou

I don't think there is a 6 month cap on under/overpayments,
and if it was due to you it should be paid however far back it goes.

You should get it back no problem. It is probably your manager's mistake so it'll rightly come out of his budget.

There definitely isn't a 6 month limit on reclaiming overpayments, so I would guess the same applies to underpayments. I've never heard of a 6 month limit of underpayments either. If a manager agreed to write-off an overpayment (which does happen) then it will be out of their budget for their office. The same applies to underpayment, it's got to come out of someone's budget. If it's HR's fault then it would come out of ours.

thanks numpty

i asked payroll myself about this and they said the same thing when i told my dom he said hed put in the form. now i have to wait a week for a response and that he was sure it was capped at six months and also said a story about a postie that had been overpaid by a couple of years and that rm only took back six months worth of it.
