Probably the most pointless post i will ever make,i know the answer but hey,it's quiet on the site,so...........

This deal seems to have been made on the fact that the CWU wil now trust RM to keep their side of the bargain,there are measures in place,with ACAS and Roger Poole reviewing things.

we will have both Roger Poole and ACAS oversee all the changes and they were in the room and know what was agreed and just as important why it was agreed.

No I'll never trust em, Royal Mail will only they're own interpretation of this proposed agreement, so if you are unlucky enough to have a weak Union in your Office they'll try anything and everything to get things done they're way!

The Agreement stands and falls on RM behaving themselves. I doubt very much there will be the fudging that occurred over Phase 4 by HQ as what little credibility they have left would be lost for ever if they failed to act swiftly. Whether the final Agreement will be endorsed and legally binding on both parties I am not sure, as Roger Poole/ACAS are to oversee deployment only.

Don't forget that there are still a number of issues to be resolved yet - in respect of Indoor and Outdoor Work Tools - for example. Roger and ACAS made it clear from the outset that there will be no Agreement until all the outstanding issues are agreed between RM and CWU. If they do not enforce their own policy then the credibility of the Agreement as a whole is suspect before getting to 'trust issues' between RM and CWU.

At the National Briefing Dave Ward put trust at the forefront and believes that the only way forward is to forge a new trust and working relationship between RM and CWU at all levels.

Trust of HQ isn't the only issue. The major flaw in the Agreement is it can be interpreted anyway you like. DOM's can use it how they like because nothing is black and white. RM HQ will say it's in the hands of local DO managers and they are abiding by their interpretation of the wording so there is no trust being broken.

You can still disagree with an 'interpretation' and put the issue into the IR framework for resolution, thereby receiving clarification and a definitive answer of an interpretation ...

Trust!

Under the present circumstances I don't trust Royal Mail, the CWU and even the Area, Div and Branch Reps because I believe they have a vested interest in things other than the terms and conditions of the membership.

Royal Mail at least are the most honest because their brief is to get the most out of us for the least amount of money, that's their job and they have achieved a great deal. I trust them to bleed the workforce dry.

The CWU purported to be negotiating our terms and conditions and came up with an agreement that essentially is a denigration of our terms and conditions and then have the gall to announce they have achieved major change - well that's true but it is all in RMs and their favour - they want to be at Balthazars feast and have ensured they are, at the expense of the membership. There is no trust whatsoever and unfortunately for them they will pay a terrible price.

Area, Div and Branch Reps and I speak only from MY experience in my area have swallowed the party line hook line and sinker without any regard for those they represent and that is the most unforgivable breach of trust of all - here are men who work with those very people they are prepared to sacrifice for personal gain in terms of union recognition.

Unit reps, in my experience have shown great personal courage in denying this deal and actually going against branch recommendation - in these men I trust.

Typical, stitched-up by what should be my party, and what should be my union, and an organisation for arbitration, that should be independant, but is hopelessly compromised.

Help, somebody, take me back to the 1970's, fast!!!!!!

Got to admit, this is the point I find hardest to get my head around. RM haven't gone out of their way up until now, to keep to any agreement that stood in their way.
For me this is the probably the most difficult part of the agreement to come to terms with.
