Re: wheres the guidlines
belle smith is right. The only guidlines to voting are written by the union. These two guys - Hayes and Ward - have failed us miserably, and any guidlines will have you believe its a good deal. If you take the time to read it, you will see that it is a lousy deal, and we will lose money and end up working even harder than we currently do.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: wheres the guidlines
I've skim read the document as posted on the forum, and to think anyone is going to read and absorb all of that is madness..... The union should put out a set of bullet points adressing the changes to each section regarding conditions, what we are loosing (i.e allowances) what we are gaining etc. That document is full of abreviations and waffle put it to us straight and honest so we can make a proper informed desiscion not what we think it might be because the real detail is hidden in code......

Re: wheres the guidlines
Most of the people n our office have not seen the full agreement, before they are asked to vote will they get sent the full agrreement or only the CWU's "good news" version ?. And is there a date that has been set for the vote, or will the CWU and RM continue the brain washing for as long as it takes before putting it to a vote ?

Re: wheres the guidlines
The thing about guidelines is given away in their name. They are intentionally or not trying to guide you in the direction that the author wants you to go. Thats why it is always better to read the full agreement so that you get your own view of it and hopefully understand the positive and negative sides. OK if you feel that the agreement is too much to read then that's your choice, however, you will then be voting from a position of either ignorance (of the impact on you and your unit) or someone else opinions. If you read the deal then you'll be voting from a position of knowledge and your own and hopefully well thought out opinion.
Guidelines from either RM or the CWU will quite naturally highlight the good points and gloss over if not outright ignore the bad ones.

Guide dogs, more like. If this turns out to be anything like the 2007 P&M agreement, with the whole crock of shyte landed in the laps of local reps & DOMs, it will be the blind leading the blind.woofwoof wrote:when do we get to see the guidlines from this great deal

If they have access to a PC with internet there is no reason not to have seen it, not hard to spot on CWU website.
Go the public libary if need be to use PC.
Yes copy of the agreement will be sent to everyone.

When he says guidelines i think he means the methods of working, how are things going to be dealt with? the menu delivery staff are going to get about working hours, how they plan to make the d2d's work etc etc, this is important stuff and it's not in the agreement, come on cwu get this info out, NOW!!!!

Re: wheres the guidlines
Yep agree if you are interested then its easy to find, however how big a per centage of posties just rely on what others tell them or what comes from CWU or RM they really aint interested until it goes pear shaped, and then they whine, hence when lapsing came in so many of them didnt realise they had taken a "bung " to accept it in the previous deal. At least if they get a copy of the proposed agreement they have the option of reading it.Big Daz wrote:singingpostman wrote:Most of the people n our office have not seen the full agreement, before they are asked to vote will they get sent the full agrreement or only the CWU's "good news" version ?. Re: wheres the guidlines
Ive printed off a copy for a mbr as I know he will read it cover to cover.
untill HQ send out copies lots of speculation.
The sooner mbrs start digesting the proposed agreement, the sooner their questions can be formulated ready for members meetings.

Re: wheres the guidlines
Perhaps we should know which version of the agreement we are going to get in the post. Will it be the original 91 page version. the 79 page version, or the 8 page version as issued on our union noticeboard? I have read all three. The 79 page version would be sufficient. I have to say that on a cursory view of the 8 pages it is a good deal for everyone given the circumstances of the current economic environment and considering RMs position regarding postcom and hence unfair imposed competition. However, reading the 79 page version does throw up all the doubts of the past. Will management encompass the need to agree with CWU any changes that affect members terms and conditions with regard to this agreement.
What would sway me to a YES vote would be the continued involvement of ACAS and the guy who acted on their behalf in this agreement (I think it was Roger Pool).
Postman - thanks for your publishing parts of the agreement. I believe some posting on this web site have not read any part of the agreement. PERHAPS IF THEY READ YOUR POSTS EVERYONE ON HERE MIGHT TRY TO READ at least the 79 page document.

Re: wheres the guidlines
I have. And I STRONGLY suggest that everyone else does! A lot of the problems with the Pay and Mod Agreement, were caused by the wording, being open to interpretation. You need to go through these things with a fine tooth comb, if you want to avoid problems in the future. Particularly if it actually gets voted in.Cheetah wrote:I've skim read the document as posted on the forum, and to think anyone is going to read and absorb all of that is madness..... You only have to look at the majority of the posts on the subject, to see that many people haven't read it properly. There's lots of posts about the rewards section. But far less about the T&Cs.
There's no way I will vote for this agreement. And I seriously doubt that it will get in, unless people don't read it properly. Although I know that a minority will vote for it anyway.
Knowledge is power!
Read the agreement properly, then you'll be in a much better position to convince those who're considering voting yes, to change their minds!

Re: wheres the guidlines
you know at the bottom of the guidelines it will say something along the lines of "the cwu recommends you vote yes"
